Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Castillo.
Hi Elizabeth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey with writing and art started from a very personal place: the need to express the things I couldn’t always put into words. I’ve always wanted to become a writer since I was young.
I’ve always been drawn to creativity and storytelling. Writing became a way for me to process my thoughts, emotions, experiences, and the things I observe around me. Art, in a similar way, gave me another language—one that allowed me to communicate feelings and ideas visually. Over time, I realized that these weren’t simply hobbies for me; they were ways of understanding myself and connecting with other people.
I didn’t necessarily begin with a clear plan of becoming a writer or artist. It was more of a gradual journey of creating whenever inspiration came, experimenting, learning, and finding my own voice along the way. The more I wrote and created, the more I understood what kind of stories and emotions I wanted to share.
I had a break in writing when I became a News Reporter for our community newspaper and later on was hired as a Feature Writer for a corporate magazine. In 2011, I joined an international anthology published in the UK and since then been a co-author to more than 500 international anthologies. I published my first book “Seasons of Emotions” in the UK, a free publication prize from an international poetry contest I joined. A year after, an American publisher published my second book “Inner Reflections of the Muse” and just recently this 2026, published an international poetry book collaboration “Verses of Meraki”, published this time in India.
There was also a period of discovery when I took a hiatus with writing and art just to focus on my doing my corporate jobs. But then I felt empty and was not feeling self-fulfillment that I had to get back to my passion again and began feeling alive once more.
What continues to inspire me is the idea that even something simple—a sentence, an image, a feeling, or a small moment from everyday life—can become meaningful when you give it your own perspective. My creative journey has taught me to be curious, to keep learning, and not to be afraid of evolving.
Today, I see writing and art as more than forms of self-expression. They are ways for me to tell stories, create connections, and hopefully make someone feel seen, understood, inspired, or simply moved. I’m still learning and discovering where this journey will take me, but that is also what makes it exciting. There is always another story to tell, another idea to explore, and another part of myself to discover through creating.
I was able to enter the global art stage in 2022 and have been a participating artist in many international exhibits.
I built a Facebook art page Art Heals by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo – MeraCreative Art Studio which focuses on promoting art and its transformative power to heal hearts and be a stalwart of change in the world. From being just a social media page, now it has become a global platform for artists and creatives. I have been organizing local and international art and poetry exhibits and collaborating with art galleries around the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. My journey with writing and art has included uncertainty, self-doubt, creative blocks, and moments when I questioned whether my work was good enough or whether I was moving in the right direction.
There were times when inspiration didn’t come easily, and other moments when I struggled to express what I was feeling. Learning to trust my own voice and accept that growth takes time has been one of the biggest challenges. I’ve also had to become comfortable with experimenting, making mistakes, and creating work that may not turn out exactly as I imagined.
At the same time, those challenges have shaped me. They’ve taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of continuing even when the process feels difficult. Every obstacle has helped me understand myself and my creative work more deeply.
So, no, it hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road—but the unexpected turns, setbacks, and lessons along the way have made the journey more meaningful. They’ve reminded me that creativity is not about having everything figured out; it’s about staying curious, continuing to learn, and finding the courage to keep creating.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a multidisciplinary artist, writer, curator, and creative facilitator specializing in using art and storytelling to inspire healing, connection, and social impact. Through my initiatives, Art Heals by Elizabeth Esguerra Castillo- MeraCreative Art Studio, and Creative Beacons International Group, I create spaces where people can explore self-expression, resilience, and personal transformation through creative practice.
I also organize international art exhibits that bring together artists, ideas, and communities across cultures. These exhibitions provide platforms for meaningful dialogue and highlight the power of art to connect people, raise awareness, and create positive change.
What sets me apart is the way I combine artistic expression with purpose. My work is not only focused on creating or presenting art; it is about building bridges, encouraging collaboration, and making creativity accessible and transformative. Whether through writing, exhibitions, or community-centered projects, I approach each endeavor with empathy, curiosity, and a commitment to helping others find their own creative voice.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Good luck plays an important role in my work because creativity often flourishes through unexpected connections, opportunities, and moments of inspiration. As a multidisciplinary artist, writer, curator, and creative facilitator, I have seen how chance encounters, timely collaborations, and open-minded exploration can lead to meaningful projects and lasting impact.
Through Art Heals and Creative Beacons, I create spaces where people can explore self-expression, resilience, and personal transformation. Sometimes, a single conversation, idea, or creative experience can shift someone’s perspective or open a new path. I consider it good luck when I am able to be present for those moments and help create the conditions for them to happen.
My international exhibitions also depend on a certain element of good fortune. Bringing together artists, ideas, and communities across cultures often begins with an unexpected connection or opportunity. However, I believe luck becomes most meaningful when it is met with preparation, openness, and a willingness to act. I try to recognize opportunities, nurture relationships, and turn fortunate moments into purposeful collaborations.
For me, good luck is not simply about chance. It is about remaining curious, receptive, and committed to using unexpected opportunities to inspire healing, connection, and positive change through art and storytelling.
