Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Freddie’s story began after we lost our previous dog. While making the three-day drive from Texas to visit my parents in Montana, I began looking at shelter websites and found a litter of six-month-old Cavapoos near their home. We applied during the drive, and the shelter kindly held one of the puppies for us and even opened on a day they were normally closed so we could adopt him.
From the beginning, Freddie was remarkably well-mannered, quick to learn and incredibly expressive. His eyes seemed to communicate everything from confusion and concern to complete disapproval. I began sharing photographs and everyday moments from his perspective, giving him a voice that reflected the wonderfully literal and unexpected way he seemed to interpret the world.
What started as a way to share our life with Freddie gradually became Freddie B Ready, a community built around his personality and storytelling. Today, more than 11,000 people follow his adventures, and one of his reels has been viewed more than 1.5 million times. The most meaningful part, however, has been hearing from people who say Freddie makes them laugh and that they look forward to seeing what he will say next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to grow something that began with no intention of becoming a brand. Freddie’s account started simply as a creative outlet and a photo diary of our life together. As more people connected with his humor and unique way of seeing the world, I had to learn how to share his perspective consistently while also navigating the ever-changing world of social media. There has been plenty of trial and error, but each challenge has taught me something valuable and helped us continue moving forward without losing what makes Freddie so unmistakably Freddie.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the creator and storyteller behind Freddie B Ready, a social media brand inspired by my Cavapoo, Freddie B. My professional background is in the business world, and I hold a master’s degree in Psychology of Leadership, so becoming a digital creator has been an unexpected but very rewarding departure for me.
I create character-driven content that gives Freddie his own distinctive voice and allows everyday experiences to unfold through his wonderfully literal and unexpected view of the world. I specialize in observing small moments and turning them into stories that feel original, relatable and unmistakably Freddie.
I am most proud of the connection he has created with his audience. People often tell me that Freddie makes them laugh, brightens their day and gives them something to look forward to. What sets my work apart is that Freddie is not simply a dog appearing in funny videos; he is a fully developed character with a consistent personality, perspective and voice. His observations become the humor, often without him realizing why they are funny.
What does success mean to you?
I define success by the connection Freddie creates with people. Of course, it is exciting when a post reaches a large audience, but the messages from people who say he made them laugh, brightened a difficult day, or that they look forward to seeing what he will say next mean the most to me. If Freddie can bring a little humor and happiness into someone’s day, I consider that a success.
