Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Jones.
Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Ive been a content creator for about 6 years. My journey started on tik tok. I post everything from fashion,to life of a plus size mom. I give the good, the bad,and the ugly on my platforms. I genuinely think I gained my following from being transparent and authentic in who I am.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a alot of things but I wouldn’t say a smooth road. Since my content is a melting pot of topics. Having the algorithm pick up my content isnt always a smooth transition. Currently alot of my content has been my sewing journey and weightloss. I have both gained alot of followers but as well as lost quite a few. Especially for the weight loss point of view. Weightloss in the plus size community is currently seen as a betrayal. But it’s one I wont apologize for. Ive recently lost 130lbs and it was done to better my life with my child. I love the platforms ive created. But when the phones off I have a real life I want to continue to live. Ill always be a bigger woman. Just a active one. The number on the scale doesn’t define me. Me feeling good does.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My platforms scream self love. Loving yourself is one thing no one can control. You’re allowed to have it and embrace it at any size. I push the barriers when it comes to what “fat women should wear.”
I wear what makes me feel good. What I THINK looks good. The approval of others has never been something I needed.
I love getting messages from people telling me. “Im the reason they purchased their first binkini!” Or “im the reason they went swimming with their babies, without caring what anyone else thought!”
I take pride in that. You shouldn’t stop living just because youre fat. Do it while youre fat. Ill never stop making memories with those I care about because it makes strangers that have no influence on my life uncomfortable.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Reach out to those you are influenced by. Im not a huge creator but I have about a million with all platforms. And im not opposed to giving advice. There is money to be made for us all out here. Anytime I see someome in public and they recognize me I will stop. And ig they have questions I answer them.
Some of my biggest networking or collaborations have been because I reached out and took a chance on myself.
