Today we’d like to introduce you to KB.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve had a passion for art ever since I was young. Throughout grade school, art was always the class I excelled in. Even with that, I never imagined that my passion for art would lead me to my passion for tattooing. I discovered my passion for tattooing while in college. Due to the depth of my industry, my fear held me back for a long time. That was until an opportunity to join a tattoo community presented itself, and it felt like a sign to begin tattooing. Throughout my tattoo journey, my goal is to be able to deliver incredible work for all kinds of people, but mainly people of color. I feel like our skin is often ignored and dismissed in the tattoo industry, so I want to use my gift to make a difference in our community and show the multitude of opportunities people of color have when receiving tattoos of different varieties. I especially want to work on color and shading for darker skin so that we are not so limited on the tattoos we have to choose. I want the customer to be able to walk out with exactly what they want regardless of the shade of their skin, not a version of what they want that has to be altered due to color issues. This will be my second year on my journey, and I am so grateful for everyone who has supported and trusted me throughout this entire process. This is only the beginning of my journey, and I pray there are many more years to come. Although the journey is tough, I couldn’t be happier with the current path God has chosen for my life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My tattoo journey has not always been a smooth road. Just like anything worth having, it has taken me a lot of work and dedication to get to the point I am at, and I plan to go even further than this. There have been plenty of nights where I have cried and wanted to quit because I didn’t think I had what it took to truly become a great artist. If not for the support of my family and friends, along with the will of God, I don’t think I’d be where I am right now, but without those hard days, I wouldn’t be able to appreciate the good ones.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a tattoo artist who specializes and is known for my line work and red ink tattoos. Although it is still improving, it is what I am the most proud of. I know my work overall will become better as time goes on.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always been very energetic and silly, I love to make people laugh with my jokes, but I have also always been very caring and loving to the people around me. That goes for people I may have just met as well. I’ve always enjoyed having fun and doing things I love with the people I love.
