Conversations with Lala Couture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lala Couture.

Hi Lala, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
To be completely honest, I’ve always loved fashion, modeling, and pageants. I’m Venezuelan, after all, so I feel like that world was always somewhere in me. But funny enough, I grew up with my father, so I didn’t really learn how to do my hair or properly put an outfit together until I was probably 12, and even then, looking back, the hair and outfits were definitely a mess.

Even though I was always drawn to creativity and fashion, for a long time I convinced myself that I wanted to become a doctor. A big part of that was wanting to prove to my dad that I was smart enough and capable of doing something impressive. Eventually, I realized I was living my life trying to prove myself to other people, and I was miserable doing it.

Everything really changed for me around my birthday in September 2024. I was at one of the lowest points of my life. I was dealing with serious health issues, I was in an abusive relationship, and after discovering mold in my home, I essentially lost my home and most of my belongings. There were days when I was so sick that I could barely get out of bed. I desperately needed something that gave me a sense of purpose because, at that point, I genuinely felt like I was slowly losing myself.

That’s when I started pursuing modeling.

And it definitely wasn’t met with support. I was ridiculed, laughed at, and insulted for wanting to do it, and somehow that just made me want it even more. I felt like my light was constantly being dimmed by the person who was supposed to support me. Every day became a fight to keep showing up, put a smile on my face, and continue creating while dealing with everything happening behind the scenes.

One thing about me is that I’m incredibly stubborn. Once I decide I’m going to do something, it’s very hard to convince me otherwise.

Eventually, I stopped looking at myself through other people’s eyes and started looking at my own potential. Modeling became almost like an alter ego for me. In front of the camera, I could be sexy, powerful, mysterious, confident, or whatever I wanted to be. It gave me a healthy place to pour emotions that I didn’t always know what to do with.

That’s really where Lala Couture was born. She started as an escape during one of the hardest periods of my life, but eventually became a version of myself that I realized had been there all along.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There was a point where I genuinely felt like I was fighting for my life, and I kept reminding myself, “I’m meant for so much more.” I knew I didn’t want to die at someone else’s hands or become another statistic of domestic abuse.

My faith carried me through that time. God was my savior, and I talked to Him every single day. I prayed for guidance, strength, and a way out. Together, God and I made an escape plan, and somehow, everything unfolded exactly the way we had planned.

Once I was finally on my own, I gave myself the time and space to heal. I surrounded myself with people who genuinely supported me, believed in me, and wanted to see me succeed. And that’s when it felt like the blessings started pouring in left and right.

In a way, that confirmed something I needed to learn: my own choices and the people I was choosing to keep around me had been holding me back. Once I chose myself, trusted God, and surrounded myself with the right people, my life began changing in ways I never could have imagined.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a fashion model and content creator based in Houston, Texas, and I’m also the owner of Facecard Beauty, a company specializing in luxury beauty accessories. I’m known for my catwalk, Y2K style, and my unique approach to fashion and self-expression.

I recently started doing runway, and I’ve genuinely never been happier in my life. I love it because there’s something so challenging and empowering about putting yourself in front of hundreds of people and learning how to completely own that moment. Every time I step onto a runway, I feel myself becoming more confident, more fearless, and more comfortable with who I am. It truly feels like I’m finally doing what I was meant to do on this earth.

More than anything, I want my story and my work to show other women that you can come back from ANYTHING. I’m incredibly proud of everything I’m building, but I think I’m most proud of myself for choosing to love myself every single day and becoming the woman I once needed.

What sets me apart? Probably the fact that I carry so much fire in my soul, and I think you can see that when I walk. I don’t just want to look beautiful or wear beautiful clothes. I want people to feel something when they see me.

I’m working toward my goals 24/7, whether that’s modeling, creating content, or building Facecard Beauty, but at the same time, I’ve learned to appreciate every breath I take and every opportunity that comes my way. God gave me a second chance at life, and I don’t plan on wasting a second of it.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memories are probably the ones with my sister. We were really close growing up, and she was actually the one who introduced me to Sailor Moon. We would run around swinging our wands, pretending we had magical powers, and playing dress up in the most ridiculous robes we could find. Looking back, maybe that was the beginning of my love for dressing up and becoming different versions of myself. It was a different era, you really just had to be there.
