Conversations with Retro Rew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Retro Rew.

Hi Retro, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always seen creativity not just as expression—but as leverage.

My journey started in music. I wasn’t just focused on making songs—I became obsessed with understanding the entire ecosystem behind sound, visuals, and storytelling around 2012. That curiosity led me into audio engineering, videography, and eventually building platforms where I could control my own narrative.

Over time, what began as passion evolved into infrastructure. I built brands like Retro Rew and Envision Empire Media to not only create content—but to help other creators elevate theirs.

Houston played a major role in that growth. It’s a city where culture, hustle, and creativity intersect—and I learned early that if you bring value, people will open doors.

Today, I don’t just create—I build systems, brands, and opportunities.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One challenge was avoiding shortcuts. In industries like music and media, it’s easy to chase trends instead of building something sustainable. I made a conscious decision to focus on ownership over hype.

Another challenge was navigating uncertainty.

There were moments where resources were limited, opportunities weren’t immediate, and progress didn’t match effort. But I learned something critical:

Consistency beats visibility.

Even when things weren’t moving externally, I was sharpening my skills internally—learning software, improving production quality and building discipline.

That shift changed everything.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets me apart is that I don’t just participate in the creative industry—I understand the infrastructure behind it.

Most people choose one lane:
• Artist
• Videographer
• Editor
• Engineer

I built across all of them.

That allows me to:
• Execute ideas faster
• Maintain creative control
• Deliver higher-level results

But more importantly, I think like a builder, not just a creator.

Everything I do is designed to scale—whether that’s content, business, or brand presence.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
If anyone wants to work with me, I encourage you to send me a DM on instagram @retrorewofficial. My website retrorew.com has all the links to my socials and projects that are available on all streaming platforms.
