Conversations with Tori Pollock

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Pollock.

Hi Tori, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My family and I moved from Michigan to Texas for a job opportunity, and I decided to come along for a fresh start. Once I received my cosmetology license, I headed to Texas, a place I had never been before. It was a completely different environment from up north!

After finishing cosmetology school full-time, I was eager to jump into a salon right away, but nothing I found really felt like me. Then, I came across a cute waxing salon and decided to apply for a front desk position. During my interview, the hiring manager mentioned the opportunity to be a waxer instead and explained that since I already had my license, I could make more doing that. I decided to give it a try, and that’s when it all began.

Even though I originally went to school for hair, waxing quickly won me over. Once I got the hang of it, I fell in love with the instant gratification and the confidence it gave my clients. The connections I built with them made it even more rewarding. That’s how I found my passion and became a waxer!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. My biggest challenge has been, and still is, balancing everything: work, being a mom, and life in general. There are days when it feels like a lot, but this is my passion. I truly love what I do, and that makes every challenge worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I offer full-body waxing and specialize in Brazilian waxing. I’m known for providing my clients with a professional, comfortable, and welcoming experience every time they come in.

I’m incredibly proud of myself for taking this leap and building something I truly love. I thank God every day for blessing me with the opportunity to do what I’m passionate about, and make a living from it. What really sets me apart is simply being me. I bring genuine care, positive energy, and real connection to every appointment, and my clients can feel that.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the beauty industry growing bigger than ever in the next 5–10 years. With all the information and education now available, more people are understanding the importance of self-care and how it impacts their confidence and overall well-being. It’s no longer just about looking good, it’s about feeling good, too. I think we’ll continue to see more people investing in themselves and prioritizing services that make them feel their best.
