Hi Toya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
What began as a passion for operating a camera has evolved into a thriving media career that now allows me to turn my craft into a source of income. Along the way, I discovered that my dynamic voice, infectious personality, and influential presence resonated with people, opening doors to meaningful connections and new business opportunities. That momentum inspired me to develop a credible platform and establish a blueprint that creates opportunities, amplifies voices, and brings visions to life. Above all, I recognize that my journey is divinely orchestrated. I am not simply pursuing a career; I am walking in purpose, trusting God’s plan for my life, for He knows the plans He has for me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth journey. Along the way, I’ve experienced betrayal, being overlooked, and even being studied, only to have my ideas and blueprint replicated. I’ve encountered people who disguised themselves as friends or teammates, only to gain access to what they needed before turning around and moving against me. While those experiences were disappointing, they also became some of my greatest teachers. They strengthened my discernment, taught me the importance of protecting my vision, establishing boundaries, and being intentional about who I allow into my circle. Ultimately, every setback served a purpose, shaping me into a stronger, wiser, and more strategic leader. I’ve learned not only what it takes to lead effectively, but also what to avoid along the way. Every challenge has contributed to my growth, and I’ve come to understand that sometimes the very experiences meant to break you are the ones that prepare you to build something greater.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for all things media and entertainment, specializing in content creation, interviews, production, marketing, and brand promotion. I created STR8 DROP, a multimedia platform featuring STR8 DROP MEDIA, STR8 DROP PODCAST, and STR8 DROP BLOG, designed to spotlight individuals and businesses across all industries while creating space for thought provoking conversations. I’m also continuing to grow my personal brand, Toya T Exclusive, where I conduct one-on-one interviews and have intimate, meaningful conversations. I’m most proud of building my production résumé, with credits on Running Out of Love and Black Card, both released on Tubi. What sets me apart is my versatility: I possess the knowledge and hands-on experience to execute multiple aspects of media independently, while understanding that collaboration and a strong team can take a vision even further.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has played absolutely no role in my journey I give all the glory to God. He is the reason I am where I am today, and I trust that He is the one who will take me even further. I believe this is more than a career or a passion; it is my purpose. I was predestined for this, and every experience, every lesson, and every opportunity has been part of His divine plan for my life. I’m simply walking in faith, doing the work, and trusting God to lead me where I’m meant to be.
