Hi Carmen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a happily married woman with an amazingly supportive and loving husband. We have four beautiful children together. I homeschool our 4 children, so I am always busy. We’re also very active in our church, and I’m on the board for our children’s swim team. Last year I started my company Berzerk Party Rentals. I wanted to help my community be able to have an affordable option for parties. With 4 children of our own, we were constantly renting things from different companies. Which can be very expensive, especially in this economy. It’s not always affordable to do the things that you want. So often you’re having to choose between what you really want, and what you can afford to have for your child’s birthday party. Berzerk Party Rentals offers a DIY option, which means the customer would pick up and drop off the items that they are renting. Doing this saves me the expenses of travel. That allows me to offer a better price on our party rental items. We do also offer delivery, and in addition to that our rentals can be tailored to your needs. We have a 24 hour rental option, or you could do a weekend option.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest obstacles I had when starting my business was just that, starting my business. I had no idea where to start, what I needed, or how expensive it would be. I did a ton of research and watched a lot of YouTube videos. Once I found a path that worked for me I just ran with it. Another big obstacle for me was creating my website. It took me about two months to get it up and running. I had never made a website before. Then there was advertising. Again I had never run a company before and I knew nothing about advertising. I thought, if I paid for advertising that would be the easiest thing to do, but then when I looked at how expensive it was, I thought I could do it myself. There was a lot of trial and error. Now I use Facebook marketplace, Instagram, and TikTok to advertise. My website berzerkpartyrentals.com also has bundle options available.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Berzerkpartyrentals.com has lots of options for your next event. We offer jumbo backyard games, such as Jumbo Connect 4, Jumbo Jenga, Tetris Tumble XL, Axe Throwing, and Cornhole. We rent out tables and chairs, trash cans, an outdoor movie theater system (which can also be used for video games). In addition we have concession machines such as popcorn, cotton, candy, and snow cone. A popular one is our Nerf war kit. We also offer goodie bag options tailored to your preference.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If you look at my logo on my website, you will notice that the t’s are actually crosses. That’s not a mistake. I wanted my logo to be a gentle reminder of God‘s love for us all. I love living in Spring, and all the options that we have available in our area. I wanted to continue to support my community by offering affordable options.
