Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Mora.
Hi Evelyn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Evelyn. I am a graphic designer, artist, and mother of two children. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. My passion for fine arts, drawing, and crafts started as a child, and as I learned charcoal, oil, and pastel techniques, painting became my favorite hobby. After graduating from high school, I tried to study architecture. Still, I decided to become a Graphic Designer as it was a profession that allowed me to think, create and express, and get into other artistic areas like illustration and photography. I worked in multiple agencies in Venezuela and Argentina and taught at my alma mater: Prodiseño.
In 2003 my family moved to the USA, and I became a full-time mother and wife. In this role, I enjoyed life, but one of the drawbacks was that I got disconnected from my artistic side. I was on autopilot, and then the Pandemic arrived. This delicate time pushed me and helped me to reunite with my essence, passions, and gifts. I took up the brush, did online workshops, and started painting.
I can finally say that I am working as an artist full time, actively participating in art exhibitions and fairs, carrying out commissions, and interacting with artists in the medium; every day is a new challenge, and I keep learning and enjoying what I do.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The path of any artist always has variants and challenges. I try to take it calmly because stress and frustration are not the best advisers. The current artistic field is very competitive.
I continuously paint and develop my craft while managing my social media accounts, clients, and Etsy store. I must be attentive to what my colleagues are doing and what is happening worldwide.
Time management is a constant challenge. I balance my time between work, family, church, and recreation, hoping to achieve a healthy creative mind, take great care of my family, and cultivate my spirituality.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My artistic expression transits between the urban, the rural, and the spiritual.
I specialize in the watercolor technique. I love playing with colors, with gestures, always ensuring that water and transparencies are the protagonists. I like to create undefined sensations with which viewers can create their own intimate experiences.
I am proud of my growth as an artist and as a painter. I went from being at home to participating in exhibitions and having my virtual gallery.
My differentiation comes from my ability to take risks with various topics while simultaneously cultivating spirituality and the grace of heavenly religiosity. It is about generating emotions and captivating hearts.
