Today we’d like to introduce you to Janie Ivory.
Hi Janie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a serial entrepreneur raised in Atlanta, GA. I started my investment company, The Ineff Group on January 1, 2018 at the age of 19 years old. I had just dropped out of college. When I first began, I had a hostess job at Ruth Chris Steak House and hoped to grow my company into a digital advertising mogul. As I met many failures and complete depletion of revenue for The Ineff Group, I decided to restructure. I’ve always been a creative. From making music to designing clothes, I was always fueling my creative passions. In the fall of 2020, after many stressful nights of self-doubt and worry, I decided to begin designing jewelry. I quickly created a jump off collection and searched for vendors that can help me achieve my goal. Luckily, I found a reliable one that helped me piece together my first collection. I began my jewelry career under the business name, The Ineff Group, as I thought it would only be an interim industry for my business. To my surprise, we began to grow quickly. Using the techniques, I was going to previously implement into my marketing agency. I was able to grow my audience by 200% within months.
As we grew, I started to put more creative energy and time into the brand, what I wanted it to stand for, and how to continue growing. Then, Jeweled by Janie was born. Jeweled by Janie is a designer affordable jewelry brand focused on increasing personal self-esteem while lessoning the financial burden of high-end styles. We donate 10% of all of our sales to bail funds in support of the #BlackLivesMatter Movement and stand with all minorities across this world that are still fighting for their earned freedoms. In addition to Jeweled by Janie, I expanded the Ineff Group’s reach by buying a ranch in Alamosa, Colorado. On the ranch, we look to build a glamorous camping site (clamping), as well as a lavish Airbnb vacation home. As these are my favorite projects, I am also working on a candle company called “Yes, I Smell Good.” and a non-profit called “Saving Smiles.” I have always had a passion for my community and I will continue to serve and help those less fortunate than I am. I want to mention how incredible blessed and thankful to god and my family for cultivating me into the woman I am today. My message to anyone would be to never let anyone tell you who you are. When I dropped out of Howard University at 18 years old, everyone thought I was crazy. Nobody understood that I couldn’t identify with the status quo. But it was my undying belief in my dreams and my work ethic that led me to where I am today. Never give up who you are and what you know about yourself to anyone. There is nothing you can’t do.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When I dropped out of college, it completely eliminated my credibility in many fields. A lot of doors closed, and people that I thought would always put me in superior positions felt like they no longer could. I lost complete financial help from my family and had to move into real life. I had to get a job and maintain my expenses while also trying to grow a business I thought would pop overnight. I’ve been homeless and definitely missed a couple meals but it sculpted me into the humble entrepreneur I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am creatively a jeweler. I specialize in affordable custom pieces as well as a number of beautifully executed collections that are all budget friendly. We are most known for our crosses as we have a number of radiant, long-lasting, timeless styles. I am most proud of the growth we were able to accumulate in such a short time. I have expanded my team to help with overall social health of the brand, but our initial marketing strategy was cultivated by techniques I created for my initial marketing business. We are different from any other jewelry brand because we are offering designer styles at truly affordable prices. Most of our pieces are under $50 & are completely tarnish free. Prices on styles you’ll actually love for prices you’ve never seen.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I honestly don’t believe in luck. I believe in purpose. I think God has a purpose for my life and if I continue to walk in his light and purpose, then he will continue to guide me into more success. He has placed me in the position I am in for a purpose, and all the “lucky” moments along the road have been due to his nature.
