Daily Inspiration: Meet Khalid Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khalid Green

Hi Khalid, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up surrounded by all kinds of music and felt the frequencies moving my spirit from as early as I can remember. Never really planned to do it myself until I was overcame by a strong, spiritual urge to embrace it. Subtly I began rewriting my favorite songs by switching a few words around until I eventually developed writing my own. I reached out to every person I could for guidance or some form of information to build on, but most overlooked and, or ignored me. I was motivated and determined to become great yet still remain humble contrary to what I was witnessing. People saw my potential early on and their encouragement pushed me to give it a serious shot. After adding the maximum number of people on Myspace every day for some time, I came across significant individuals who became friends, partners, mentors etc. I would write and listen to various music all the time, desperately trying to improve. One thing led to many others and the windows of opportunity continuously opened. Pretty much kept the momentum going since 14 years old and focused hard on not losing myself amidst the journey. This has all taught and shown me things I still may not fully understand, but cherish with all my existence. Never will I ever forget the ones who help(ed) make it possible.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not even close! I’ve fought tooth, nail and livelihood to obtain every last bit of anything that has been granted to me. Starting at 14 opened me up to tons of undermining, hate and ridicule altogether. Many didn’t believe in me. Many disrespected me. It was converted into fuel and helped build my resilience. Too many times I’ve been disappointed, doubtful, discouraged. Sometimes downright depressed to say the least. Left me with no choice but to prove myself. Unquestionably, I’m proud to say I’ve done that and more. In the process I’ve lost so much more than I care to account for. Everything from relationships to money and everything in between. I come from a city that doesn’t like to see others prevail past them, let alone at all. Everyone wants to be the big dog and leader of the forefront. Nothing about this type of dream nor business is a smooth road, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been creating music for the majority of my life now. I’m known for following my heart and spirit against all odds. Certainly mostly proud of not losing myself in all the accomplishments let alone the journey itself. Being a good father to my kiddos is ultimately the best feeling ever though. I feel the best when I help others do nonetheless. I feel like my burning desire to see and help deserving others thrive sets me apart, but I also respect and appreciate naturally.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel like resilience is one of the most important characteristics of any journey to success. You’re gonna endure mass failure and disappointment, so the ability to overcome + persist is a must. Never give up on yourself and appreciate every moment like it’s your last. Don’t get lost in the frost!
