We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dusti Grassmann. Check out our conversation below.
Dusti, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think what is misunderstood about our shop is that it’s like every other tattoo shop out there. When we decided to open this shop, we wanted it to be different by not only it being a welcoming environment for everyone but also art forward. Our artist believe in quality over quantity and we want you to have an experience that keeps you coming back for more.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dusti Grassmann and I am the proud owner of La Familia Tattoo Parlor located in Spring, TX, Paul Boatright is our Resident Artist, the Heart of the Shop & Shop Manager.
We are a woman owned, family operated shop that offers a variety of artist specializing in Traditional, Neo-Traditional, Black & Grey, Realism, Cover Ups & Custom Designs.
At our shop you walk-in as a stranger & leave feeling like family.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My Parents raised me with an incredible work ethic and taught me at an early age that life isn’t about handouts, it’s about getting up every day and putting all I have into everything that I do.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, a little over two years ago my husband was deathly ill & the prognosis was not good…he is the artist and the reason why we decided to open our shop. While he was in/out of the hospital and working on recovering, I had to step up & step out from behind the scenes and run our shop. He wasn’t even sure he would be able to return to tattooing But after a year and a half, he was able to return to what he loves doing most, tattooing. It was hard But I was determined not to let our dream go up in smoke.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would tell you that my family matters the most to me and they would be right. They inspired the name of our shop and they are the reason that we get up & hustle every day.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I believe we are doing what we were born to do…I have an extensive accounting background & I’ve always known that I would own a business, my husband Loves tattooing & teaching young artist. So he manages the shop & I do all the not so fun “business” stuff.
