Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Johnson.
Hi Bria , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the mental health field began long before I fully understood what it meant to be a therapist. I can actually trace my passion back to the second grade. I remember witnessing a friend crying because of difficulties she was experiencing at home. At that age, I didn’t have the words, training, or understanding to change her circumstances, but I knew I wanted to help her feel better. I offered what I could: kindness, compassion, and a listening ear. Over time, I realized that simply being present for someone during their difficult moments could make a meaningful difference. That experience planted a seed in me that would eventually grow into my life’s purpose.
As I grew older, my natural desire to nurture and support others only became stronger. Life also introduced me to my own challenges, including the loss of my father, which gave me a deeper understanding of grief, emotional pain, and the importance of having support during life’s most difficult seasons. Those experiences didn’t create my passion for helping others, but they certainly strengthened it. I began to understand that sometimes people don’t need someone to fix everything for them. They need someone who can sit with them in their pain, help them make sense of their experiences, and remind them that they don’t have to navigate everything alone.
That passion eventually led me to pursue a career in counseling, where I earned my Master’s degree in Education and became a Licensed Professional Counselor. Throughout my professional journey, I developed a particular passion for working with adults who carry the emotional weight of unresolved childhood experiences, unhealthy relationship patterns, people-pleasing tendencies, and difficulties establishing boundaries. I recognized that many people spend their adult lives trying to survive experiences they never had the opportunity to fully process.
That realization helped shape the foundation of **Bee Bliss Enterprises LLC**. I wanted to create a space where individuals could feel heard, understood, and empowered to challenge the patterns that no longer serve them. For me, therapy is about more than managing symptoms. It’s about helping people develop self-awareness, reclaim their voices, build healthier relationships, and recognize that their past does not have to dictate their future.
Building Bee Bliss has also allowed me to grow beyond my identity as a clinician and embrace entrepreneurship. I’ve learned that creating a business requires courage, adaptability, and a willingness to believe in a vision that others may not fully see yet. What started as a desire to help people individually has evolved into a much larger vision of expanding access to mental health education, creating supportive group experiences, mentoring other professionals, and bringing emotional wellness into organizational and corporate spaces. My long-term goal is to make an impact not only through individual therapy but also through the systems, organizations, and communities that influence people’s overall well-being.
When I reflect on my journey, I often think about that little girl in second grade who simply wanted to comfort her friend. She didn’t know anything about degrees, professional titles, or entrepreneurship. She just knew that she cared. And although my journey has taken me through different experiences, challenges, and accomplishments, that part of me has never changed.
**At the heart of everything I do, I’m still that little girl who believes that compassion, understanding, and simply showing up for someone can change a life. I have found my voice and want others to find theirs because of how freeing it has become. The difference is that today, I’ve been blessed with the education, experience, and platform to turn that compassion into purpose.**
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would love to say that my journey has been a smooth road, but it has certainly come with its challenges, unexpected turns, and moments that required me to discover strength I didn’t even know I had.
One of the most defining challenges of my life happened during my very first semester of graduate school. I found out I was pregnant, and what I initially imagined would be a journey of balancing motherhood and education quickly became something much more complicated. I developed preeclampsia, a serious pregnancy complication, and ultimately gave birth to my son at just 24 weeks. He was considered a micro-preemie, and suddenly, I found myself navigating the emotional uncertainty of having an extremely premature baby while still trying to pursue my educational goals.
I can remember being in the hospital completing school assignments while simultaneously processing everything that was happening around me. Once my son was able to come home, the challenges didn’t simply disappear. There were numerous specialists, medical appointments, and ongoing health concerns that required my attention. I was a first-time mother learning how to care for a medically vulnerable baby, a graduate student trying to remain committed to my education, and a young woman still trying to figure out how to navigate a life that looked very different from what I had originally imagined.
There were moments when it felt overwhelming, but giving up on my education was something I didn’t want to do. I had to learn how to adjust my expectations, extend grace to myself, and understand that progress doesn’t always happen according to the timeline we envision. That season taught me a great deal about perseverance, flexibility, and the importance of continuing to show up for yourself, even when life requires you to show up for so many other people. I was determined to finish what I started which led me to graduating on time with my handsome baby boy and family in the audience.
When I transitioned into entrepreneurship and began building Bee Bliss Enterprises LLC, I encountered a completely different set of challenges. As a therapist, I was comfortable creating a safe space for others, listening, and helping people navigate their experiences. However, marketing myself and putting my business in front of the public required me to step outside of my comfort zone. I quickly learned that being knowledgeable and passionate about your profession doesn’t automatically make you comfortable with promoting yourself. I had to challenge my own hesitation around visibility, learn how to confidently communicate the value of my services, and become comfortable with being the face of the brand I was building. There is a certain vulnerability that comes with entrepreneurship because you’re not just introducing a service to the world; you’re also sharing something you’ve invested your time, energy, and heart into creating.
What I’ve come to appreciate about both experiences is that growth often requires us to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. Motherhood taught me how to adapt when life doesn’t go according to plan, while entrepreneurship has taught me how to take risks, trust my abilities, and advocate for the value of what I bring to the table.
I don’t view those challenges as setbacks anymore. I see them as experiences that have helped shape the woman, mother, therapist, and business owner I am today. They have also strengthened the empathy I bring into my work because I understand that sometimes people are doing the very best that they can while navigating circumstances that others may never see.
**If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that you don’t have to have everything figured out to keep moving forward. Sometimes success isn’t about having a perfect plan. It’s about having the courage to keep going, even when the plan changes.**
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bee Bliss Enterprises LLC ?
Bee Bliss Enterprises LLC is a mental health and wellness practice based in Houston, Texas, built on the belief that healing should feel approachable, authentic, and empowering. My mission is to create a space where individuals can explore their experiences, challenge unhealthy patterns, and develop the confidence to create healthier lives without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I provide individual therapy for adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, and other emotional challenges. My primary areas of focus is relational trauma which includes unresolved childhood trauma, unhealthy relationship dynamics, people-pleasing behaviors, and difficulties establishing healthy boundaries.
I’m particularly passionate about helping adults understand how their childhood experiences continue to influence their relationships, decisions, and emotional responses. Many of the individuals I work with have spent years being everything to everyone else while neglecting their own emotional needs. They may be successful professionally, dependable in their relationships, and appear to have everything together, yet struggle internally with guilt, resentment, emotional exhaustion, or the fear of disappointing others.
What I believe sets Bee Bliss apart is the authenticity we bring into the therapeutic relationship. I’m very much myself in my sessions and I encourage my clinicians to be the same way because I never want clients to feel intimidated by therapy or feel as though they’re sitting across from someone who has life completely figured out. Yes, I’m a therapist, but I’m also human. I have my own personality, experiences, and perspectives, and I believe allowing appropriate glimpses of that humanity can help clients feel more comfortable and connected.
My therapeutic style is a combination of nurturing, conversational, direct, and challenging. I enjoy incorporating humor when appropriate because sometimes a little laughter can make difficult conversations feel less overwhelming. However, I also believe that meaningful growth requires more than validation. There are moments when I gently challenge my clients to examine their behaviors, question familiar patterns, and consider perspectives that may initially feel uncomfortable. They may stop and think “Wait a minute.. did she just check me? But she’s right and I’m ready to work on that,” and then they do and they always thank me later for that “checking.”
I often remind clients that therapy isn’t always about hearing what we want to hear. Sometimes it’s about developing the willingness to acknowledge what we need to hear. My goal is never to make someone feel judged or ashamed, but rather to create an environment where they feel safe enough to be honest with themselves, take accountability when necessary, and recognize their ability to make different choices. I believe some of the most meaningful breakthroughs happen when compassion and accountability exist in the same space.
Beyond individual therapy, I’m continuing to expand Bee Bliss into a broader mental health and wellness brand through psychoeducation, supportive group experiences, and professional development opportunities. This includes initiatives such as my Break-Up Recovery Group, which focuses on healing after relationship endings and rebuilding self-worth; *Not Your Good Girl*, a developing program centered around overcoming people-pleasing and establishing healthier boundaries; and *The Therapist Sweet Spot*, a coaching experience designed to help mental health professionals explore their career goals and professional fulfillment.
I’m also working toward expanding my impact into corporate wellness and organizational consulting, where I hope to support conversations around burnout, emotional well-being, workplace communication, and healthier organizational cultures.
What I’m most proud of, from a branding perspective, is that Bee Bliss genuinely reflects who I am and what I believe about healing. I haven’t built this brand around the idea that people need to become perfect versions of themselves. I’ve built it around the understanding that people deserve the opportunity to become more self-aware, emotionally healthy, and comfortable with who they are.
I want readers to know that Bee Bliss is more than a place to discuss problems. It’s a space for honest conversations, personal reflection, meaningful accountability, and growth. I want people to feel comfortable enough to laugh, vulnerable enough to be honest, and empowered enough to make changes that improve their lives.
**At Bee Bliss, I believe healing requires compassion, but growth also requires honesty. My role isn’t to tell people how to live their lives. It’s to help them better understand themselves so they can make choices that genuinely support the life they want to create.**
What’s next?
I’m genuinely excited about what the future holds for Bee Bliss Enterprises LLC because I feel like I’m entering a new chapter of growth, creativity, and opportunity. When I first began my journey as a therapist, my primary goal was to create a space where individuals could feel supported while navigating life’s challenges. While that passion remains at the heart of everything I do, my vision has grown tremendously. I’ve realized that my ability to make an impact doesn’t have to be limited to the traditional therapy room.
One of my biggest goals is to continue expanding Bee Bliss into a comprehensive mental health and wellness brand that offers support, education, and opportunities for personal growth in different ways. I want to create experiences that meet people where they are, whether that’s through individual therapy, supportive group programs, educational resources, or personal development opportunities.
I’m particularly excited about developing programs that focus on relationship recovery, people-pleasing, establishing healthy boundaries, and rebuilding self-worth. These are areas I’m extremely passionate about because I recognize how many individuals struggle with prioritizing themselves, especially when they’ve spent years placing the needs and expectations of others before their own. I want to create spaces where people can have honest conversations, develop greater self-awareness, and feel empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
Another growth area I am working on is expanding into corporate wellness and organizational consulting. I believe mental health and emotional well-being should be an important part of conversations surrounding workplace culture, leadership, employee engagement, and professional development. So many individuals are navigating burnout, stress, and emotional exhaustion while trying to maintain their personal and professional responsibilities. My goal is to partner with organizations that understand the importance of investing in their employees’ well-being and creating healthier, more supportive work environments.
I’m also looking forward to expanding my work with other mental health professionals. Through initiatives such as *The Therapist Sweet Spot*, I want to encourage therapists to think beyond simply building a career and begin exploring what professional fulfillment, sustainability, and personal success genuinely look like for them. As helping professionals, we spend so much time encouraging others to prioritize their well-being, and I believe it’s equally important that we create careers that allow us to practice those same principles.
On a personal level, I also want to continue creating a life that allows me to be fully present for my family, enjoy new experiences, and embrace the freedom that comes with building a business aligned with my values. Being a mother and an entrepreneur has taught me that success isn’t just about professional accomplishments. It’s also about having the flexibility and fulfillment to enjoy the life you’re working so hard to create.
Ultimately, I want Bee Bliss to become a recognizable and trusted name in mental health and wellness, not simply because of the services offered, but because of the experiences, conversations, and meaningful changes the brand inspires.
**I’m looking forward to building something that reaches beyond me.**
