Today we’d like to introduce you to Created For Hope Maury & Erika McCown.
Hi Created for Hope, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Created for Hope began through years of serving in ministry, leading studies, and seeing the same need again and again: many people desired to be involved in a Bible study but did not know how to read the Bible for themselves and often relied on video-based or consumption-focused studies.
What started as helping individuals in our small Bible study group learn how to study the Bible grew into writing verse-by-verse Bible studies, hosting a much larger Bible study group, and Erika leading at women’s retreats and speaking at women’s events. Today, Created for Hope serves men and women through studies designed to slow readers down, help them observe the text carefully, and understand what the passage is saying in context.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Created for Hope has been rewarding, but it has not been a completely smooth road. Like many small ministries, growth brought new challenges. In the early days, we printed our studies at home and prepared materials ourselves. As our Bible study group grew, that model was no longer sustainable, so we had to learn new systems for editing, graphic design, publishing, production, and distribution while still leading studies and serving people well.
Like most meaningful work, there were seasons of long hours—and still are as we release new studies—along with constant problem-solving and stretching beyond what felt comfortable. At the same time, those challenges helped shape Created for Hope into what it is today.
We’ve been impressed with Created for Hope, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Created for Hope is a Bible study ministry and publishing brand focused on helping men and women engage the Bible with clarity and confidence. We create verse-by-verse studies that guide readers through books and themes of the Bible in a structured, approachable way. Our studies are used by individuals, groups, churches, retreats, and leaders who want biblically faithful resources that are easy to use and rich in substance.
What sets Created for Hope apart is our commitment to keeping the Bible central. Rather than centering personality-driven teaching or surface-level discussion, our studies are designed to slow readers down, help readers observe the text carefully, and understand what the passage is saying in context. We want people to gain confidence opening the Bible for themselves.
We are also grateful that the ministry has grown beyond books alone. Today, Created for Hope includes speaking events, women’s retreats, group studies, and resources that help churches and leaders disciple others with confidence.
What we are most proud of is hearing from people who once felt intimidated by the Bible but now read it with consistency, understanding, and joy. More than anything, our desire is to equip people in God’s Word and provide trustworthy resources that help people grow in faith in Christ.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to us is faithfulness to Christ and faithfulness to His Word. That conviction shapes everything we do, from the studies we write to the way we teach, serve, and lead others.
It also matters to us that people grow confident opening the Bible for themselves rather than feeling dependent on someone else. We want men and women to know that God’s Word can be understood, studied carefully, and applied with clarity.
Relationships matter as well. Some of the greatest joy has come through walking alongside people, seeing growth over time, and watching others begin to lead and disciple with confidence. These things matter because platforms, trends, and recognition come and go, but helping people know Christ and know His Word is work that endures.
