Exploring Life & Business with Grey Bonin of Prahsys Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grey Bonin.

Hi Grey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hey, my name is Grey “like the colour” Bonin. I’m a 30 year old American entrepreneur, the third born of eleven children, and the proud father of two precious boys.

Like most people, I didn’t escape childhood without some wounding. At 27 I came to find out that the questions hanging over my life were “Am I worthy? Worthy of love? Worthy of admiration?” Until about three and a half years ago, those questions drove me to be a high performing individual: mentally, physically, educationally, and financially. I kept chasing fleeting moments of accomplishment because I always felt that if only I achieved x, I would be fulfilled. Except the goal post kept moving.

Then in March 2023, in a single moment, my entire life changed. My then wife and I were hit by three vehicles going 80mph while we were at a standstill. The result was the death of our recently conceived child, which, added to the brutality of the work I was already doing, sent me into an absolute spiral.

I remember wondering how God could let something like this happen to me. I was trying to be a good husband, a good dad, and a good provider. But what I realized as a result of that accident is that I had shaped my life with me at the center instead of Jesus. I was sitting on the throne of my own heart instead of living in submission to Christ. I could say the right things and give off the appearance that I was a “good man,” but my actions didn’t fully reflect the words I was speaking. I was an absolute hypocrite. And God, seeing me for who I actually was, saved me from myself.

The following nine months were grueling. I made emotional decisions that led me to close my business, which resulted in bankruptcy and deepened the pain of that season. I can genuinely say I reached rock bottom. Everything was stripped away until there was nothing left. No house, no cars, no money, no marriage.

But there was something beautiful about it all being stripped away. The cracked foundation I had built my life on had been demolished, and there was finally space for something new. In November of 2023 I enrolled in a program called Re:Generation at my church, Restoration Church of WoodForest. That 12 step program, alongside many godly men, helped Jesus create a new foundation for my life to be built on. For the first time in my life, I can say that I like who I am. I am worthy, not because of anything I’ve done, but because of what Christ did for me. My worthiness and my ability to love myself today are a reflection of God’s love for me. My job now is simply to accept that.

So I’m excited to share all that has happened in the last three years. But before that, let me tell you a little more about myself professionally.

I grew up in my father’s dental practice. He’s been a dentist for over 30 years, two of my uncles are dentists, and I got my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science to become a dentist myself before deciding to become an entrepreneur. From the age of 8, I wanted to be a dentist. So working in his practice doing whatever needed doing was a no brainer for me. That gave me a view of dentistry that most technology founders never get. I got to see the clinical side and the business side of a small practice at the same time, and exactly how much friction sits between the two.

That experience directly informed the vision we have at Prahsys: to create a unified platform that unites the functions of the practice by defragmenting the technology stack. So that’s what we’re doing. We started by building our own payments product to give healthcare practices complete visibility into their finances, meeting all of the functionality their financial workflows demand and reducing the risk of fraud or embezzlement in their practices. We recently launched our own Dental Memberships product, which gives practices predictable monthly recurring revenue and gives patients an in office membership plan that functions better than insurance. Our PrognosiX AI computer vision model is the product we’re most recognized for. It brings visual clarity to 3D X-rays, highlighting anatomical structures so that patient anatomy and morphology are easier for practitioners and patients to see and understand.

Honestly, even writing about all of this feels weird, because three years ago Prahsys was just an idea I had while I was homeless, living in my brother’s spare bedroom. The idea was born from a conversation I had with a Practice Management Software company about migrating their payments to a new payments provider I was representing at the time. Ironically, that company didn’t have the type of technology that actually needed to be integrated into the PMS, and I remember when the CEO called about it. When he told me they didn’t have what they needed, I asked him what we could do to keep the deal alive. He said, “Well, you can find another payments company or go start your own.” My response was, “Give me five weeks and I’ll get back to you.” From there, Prahsys was born.

It’s been an exciting story so far, and even though I’m still in the middle of it, I’m really excited to see where it goes.

If any part of my story resonated with you, I’d love to connect. Maybe you’re a practitioner drowning in a fragmented tech stack, maybe you’re a founder in the thick of it, or maybe you’re sitting in your own rock bottom right now wondering if there’s anything on the other side of it. There is. I share what we’re building at Prahsys and what God is doing in my life as it happens, the wins and the parts that are still hard. Follow along and reach out, because I answer my own messages.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. LOL.

Having been a founder and CEO for the last eight years, I can tell you that entrepreneurship is never a smooth road. The cool thing about it, though, is that the valleys are usually contrasted by high peaks. It makes working through the struggles so worth it, because being a successful entrepreneur isn’t simply about doing everything perfectly. It’s actually about making mistakes, failing, and being willing to pivot quickly.

Here’s an example. When we incorporated Prahsys in May of 2024, we raised $450k in pre-seed capital, which is the money people invest at the idea stage. After six months of trying to raise our seed round we were nearly out of capital, literally down to our last paychecks, and then in one fell swoop we closed our seed round of $3.5M.

If I had listened to any of the people telling me not to start Prahsys, or to quit because “we can’t raise the capital,” or that the idea “was too big,” Prahsys wouldn’t exist today. In my experience, people are really quick to tell you that you’re crazy, stupid, or wrong. But maybe it’s that insane conviction that’s actually necessary to build something great.

(If you want more examples, I have plenty to share.)

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Prahsys Inc.?
What we do
Prahsys is a healthcare technology company focused on defragmenting the tech stacks of private practices. We provide embedded payments and Clinical AI to unite the experience between the front and back of the office. We serve four groups: individual practitioners, Dental Service Organizations, imaging companies, and practice management software providers. That mix matters, because it means we sit at the point where money, patient data, and clinical workflow actually meet.

What we specialize in
Three things. Prahsys Payments is our embedded payments platform that consolidates the financial workflows into a single login. Our dental membership products lets practices capture recurring revenue and delivers better insurance alternative plans to patients. Our PrognosiX AI product is our clinical AI that highlights patient anatomy and morphology.

What sets us apart
Most companies selling into dentistry are point solutions. We’re disruptive because we believe the future of dentistry is a single login instead of twenty. Our team members came from the operatory and the administrative side. As CEO, I grew up working in my father’s dental practice, and he is a practicing dentist who invented the core imaging IP we build on. That shapes every product decision we make. We are not adapting a generic payments stack to dental. We are building for how a practice actually runs on a Tuesday afternoon when the schedule is full and the front desk is two people short.

What I am most proud of
The trust. Practices let us touch their revenue and their patient imaging, which are two of the things they guard most closely. Earning that access repeatedly, and keeping it, is the brand. What I want your readers to know is that we treat dentistry as a serious clinical business rather than simply a vertical that needs to be disrupted, and we would rather ship something a practice relies on daily than something that demos well.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Money is never worth the cost of your relationships. If I died tomorrow, Prahsys would replace me and keep moving. My family could not. The only people who will remember the hours I put in are my kids, and what they will remember is my absence.
