Exploring Life & Business with Michael Sanchez of “MIC ON MIC”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Sanchez.

Hi Michael , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
What started as a joke has slowly through the years evolved an entertaining music career – completely run by MIC ON MIC (myself). As the saying goes you tend to speak into existence so be careful with what you say and that’s exactly what MIC has been doing for the past 7 years in the Baytown / Houston area. Gigs, shows, streams, marketing, TikTok’s, videos you name it – he’s done it all and while hitting some amazing milestones like (1M views / recognition from influencers with larger followings). The main result that he’s chasing hasn’t landed yet however that just fuels the fire to continue pushing forward. His music is based from a range of lofi/alternative/cloud/trap/and old school hip hop. Literally the definition of versatile and is know. For bringing out the full band whenever a huge gig is landed in order to give the audience a more “live” feeling.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Struggles are never ending so it’s important to stay locked in on the goal. Some struggles have included

– cut hours from work which defunds the music career
-the passing of a fellow peer /musician
-writers block
– loss of friends
-self doubt
-overwhelming / too much work for one person
– balance of a social life
-lack on inspiration
-oversaturated market
-modern day algorithms not pushing the content to all followers / viewers / subscribers
-unprofessional behavior from others

As you know, we’re big fans of “MIC ON MIC” . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
MIC ON MIC ? What does that even mean ? Well it’s simple it’s “Michael on a microphone” the name was given by friend of mine way back in high school (choir kid) when she snapped a picture of me singing and leaning over a microphone. I specialize in creating music that is true to me and tend to not follow crowds or general themes. To be honest it’s impossible to rap about something completely new however it feels nice when people come up to me and say “I like how you don’t rap about guns and drugs”. Not to say I wont throw in metaphors or hyperboles relating to those topics ; cause you’ll definitely catch them in my music 😂 but yeah I like to only rap/sing about things that are true to me and what I have personal experiences. So I guess you can say that’s what I’m most proud of. I would like for readers to know that I’m stubborn and won’t go away. I would like them to know that I LOVE IT when somebody hates me or my talent. Nothing but love for my haters, and I would especially love readers to know that with me you’re getting an authentic piece of music every time. I make music cause I love it, the fact that I can make money off of it ? That’s just a blessing entirely.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
