Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruby.
Hi Ruby, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my business at just 17 years old because I knew I wanted more for myself and wanted to become independent. At the time, my mom would decorate and plan events for family and friends, and I saw the opportunity to turn something we both enjoyed into a real business. With her help and support, I started what is now Ru’s Event Planning & Decor.
Now, four years later at 21, I’ve definitely seen growth in my business. I’ve had the opportunity to work major events and collaborate with big businesses, including working at NRG in collaboration with the Vietnamese Culture Festival in 2023, as well as events at the Children’s Museum later that year and a collaboration with KIA.
Of course, the growth doesn’t stop here. Like any business owner, I’m still learning, improving, and working toward expanding my business even more. By the end of the year, I plan to make a few upgrades and continue building Ru’s Event Planning & Decor into something even bigger. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I’m even more excited for what’s still ahead!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all, starting a business from a young age gave me so much insight but it was also hard as I was currently also in high school at the time so I was balancing my business with school but I still did I also had to learn how to manage money and running a business in general at that age I was very happy to be able to do that and allowing myself the opportunity to as well

From full event planning, flower arrangements, backdrops, and room decorations to proposals and more, we offer a wide variety of services and strive to be a true one-stop shop for our clients. Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I use apps for personal usage such as Canva, spreadsheets, and of course all social platforms! I mean no business is one without all the socials of course like TikTok & Instagram
