Exploring Life & Business with Samentha Alarcon of True Bloom Doula Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samentha Alarcon.

Hi Samentha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello! My name is Samentha, certified birth doula and professionally trained NICU doula. My own birth journey, beginning as a planned home birth and leading to an unexpected hospital transfer, left me feeling unprepared and deeply transformed. That experience became the foundation of my calling—to ensure that no family ever feels alone or unsupported, no matter how their story unfolds. With additional training in VBAC and cesarean births I brings both knowledge and empathy to every birth space.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business can feel overwhelming, but it’s also incredibly rewarding! I’ve poured my heart into this work—investing in trainings, workshops and countless hours of learning and connection. Building a network and sharing your name takes time and dedication. When you truly believe in your mission and love what you do, amazing things happen. This is my dream job, and my heart couldn’t be fuller!

We’ve been impressed with True Bloom Doula Care, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being a birth doula is incredibly rewarding! Supporting families during such a meaningful and transformative time is truly close to my heart. I love providing knowledge and support to expecting parents as they prepare to welcome their baby.
As a NICU doula, I provide guidance throughout high risk pregnancies and delivery, support families during NICU stays and help with the transition home after discharge. I provide compassionate, non medical support. My role is to create a connection between the medical system and your family, helping you to understanding your babies care, teaching you how to advocate and guide you to recognize the decisions you can make in the NICU. Whether it’s helping you to bond with your baby, supporting your feeding goals, or simply being a steady presence to listen and reassure, I ensure you never feel alone during your NICU journey.
I have also created a community of birth workers who provide services in West Houston. We have networking events and host “Meet Your Village” events to connect families with birth workers to help them on their journey. Building community and a strong network is such a big part of the work I do!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe taking risks is a big part of success. You have to keep betting on yourself! I have the faith and confidence to know I’ll reach my goals. I have big ambitions for my career in birth work, and I know I will achieve them! Stay tuned!
