Exploring Life & Business with Savannah Sales of Montgomery Skin Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Sales.

Hi Savannah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Some may say the stars aligned or the universe provided but for me it was all a part of Gods plan. My family had recently moved back to Montgomery from Las Vegas. I took a position as an esthetician with the previous owner and in a few short months, unbeknownst to me, I was blessed with the opportunity to purchase and take over the studio as the owner.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say yes it has been a smooth road thus far but that doesn’t always mean it’s easy. You must stay strong in your faith. Iv been blessed and exposed to small businesses entrepreneurs my entire life. Both of my maternal grandparents always had a side “hustle,” in order to provide for their family. Most of their small business adventures were prior to me being born but Iv always enjoyed hearing about their journey. In 1988 my grandmother started an antique boutique in Westfield, by 1989 she moved her business to Old Town Spring and over the years she evolved to clothing and gifts; she eventually closed after being in business for 30years. Being raised in Friends Boutique fueled my dreams of being a small business owner and because I was apart of that journey I believe Iv found it to be a smoother ride. I think for anyone starting their own business, the biggest struggle is fear of failure and that’s a daily battle and why my faith is so strong. If it’s Gods plan then it will be done. I strongly encourage all to take the leap, failure is just a lesson and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with learning lessons, they are there for a reason and allow us to grow as human beings.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in skincare and provide a wide variety of services. Performing facials is my true passion but I love being able to provide a full service menu that includes full body waxing, lash lift and tints, as well as brow laminations and a range of basic to advanced facials. I’m so thankful to have been granted the opportunity to be able to provide skincare and relaxation. My studio is small but I take pride in it being a safe space for my clients, I prefer to be completely transparent and often I fear a tad to honest but that is who I am and what I represent. I enjoy educating clients on what’s best for their skin but most importantly what fits their lifestyle realistically. I would say that I’m a firm believer in holistic health and well being; it’s important to me to keep the cleanest ingredients possible. Though the expensive treatments provide results; I don’t believe it’s the only way to achieve results; the spectrum of skincare is far and wide. With that being said I’m a supporter of the people, if it makes you happy then it makes me happy as long as no damage is being done and results are apparent. We live in a world where we are constantly being told what is beautiful based on someone else’s opinion and for me, I’m trying to break that mindset for all. Only we as individuals get to decide what’s beautiful to us.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Healing and honesty. Being honest with my clients about realistic expectations; short and long term. Healing the skin, body, mind and soul. What truly matters to me most are genuine relationships with my clients. Allowing a safe place to get to fellowship and hear about what’s going on in their current lives and family or even current events; it’s always my pleasure to lend a listening ear.
