George Paredes of Greater Houston on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with George Paredes and have shared our conversation below.

George, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Wake up, thank God for another day and ask that he guide me throughout the day. Brew some coffee and check on the tasks to do for the day. Check on the team to see if they need anything from me and take phone call appointments until lunch. Have lunch. Check on team and take one on one calls or look at potential opportunities until 4. Check to see if I have any one on one appointments for the that time until 8 and whine down and settle into bed with wife until we fall asleep.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
George Paredes. Full time business owner specializing in real estate, particularly wholesaling single family homes. George P at Optimisticglee, real estate solutions with a touch of glee. I reach out to homeowners needing assistance with selling their home in situations like foreclosure, probate, short sales and other distressed situations. Our goal is to fully understand the homeowners situation by asking them problem finding questions to see what problem or goal they are trying to figure out and for us to give the options we believe will help get them there. Our motto is, “Is to leave you in a better place than you were before you spoke with me whether we work together or you work with someone I refer you too.”

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That I wasn’t enough. I am enough and believe God has me on a path to lighten up everyone’s life that meets me. There’s too much in the world that is beautiful to concentrate on what is bad.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
No matter how much you suffer, God finds a way to help you through that storm.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try to be the same both public and private. If anything I think people think Im doing better than them because Im always emulating positive vibes to all I encounter. I have similar problems as the next person but I try not to let it show if anything I practice to put those thoughts and worries into God’s hands.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Stop thinking small and start thinking bigger.
