Hidden Gems: Meet Alexander Weber of Divine Tree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Weber.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey of becoming the best trainer I could for the people after being a pro athlete most of my life. After playing wide receiver for ole miss and briefly with the Miami dolphins I had to make a whole new identity with life after football, as I slowly seen my dreams of a long career in the league come to a swindle. I went through depression, not knowing what was my purpose in life until I moved to Houston. I began training in Houston to continue my professional career after being released from the dolphins. After months of vigorous training and no calls from any team, my trainer asked me what I thought about one day becoming a trainer. I shrugged it off, adamant about getting back into the nfl I trained for a few months more and with no progress with signing with a team something sparked in my mind that I was chasing a dream and not my purpose. So I began getting my certifications for becoming a personal trainer through NASM and also doing free training sessions to get my name buzzing around a big city. After 2 years of training I implemented yoga into my training and went on to get my 200hr in yoga teacher training at black swan. Since becoming a trainer and being involved in the community with my philanthropic efforts within Divine Tree doing annual football camps, Thanksgiving drives at the Houston ymca, and single mother initiatives I embraced the city of Houston with open arms and it has done just that in return. I was able to grow a business from the ground up into a very well known and respected health and wellness guru.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road when you’re doing something bigger than yourself. You learn to take on one challenge at a time and not think of success as a linear thing. Some of the struggles was learning the nuances of owning a business, finding ways to be a problem solver instead of asking why it happened that way. Understanding as a trainer that it comes with more than just putting people into the right position physically but that they may just need someone to speak about their problems to some days. Being a therapist essentially.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
