Hidden Gems: Meet Cesar Gil of Veteran Brew Coffee Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cesar Gil.

Hi Cesar, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Steven Causey and Cesar Gil are the founders of Veteran Brew Coffee Co., a mission driven coffee company built to bring veterans and the community together through great coffee and strong camaraderie. Inspired by military values of service, discipline, and brotherhood, we created Veteran Brew as more than just a coffee shop it’s a place where people connect, support veteran initiatives, and strengthen the local community. Our goal is to serve high quality coffee while helping fund veteran programs, events, and opportunities that restore the sense of unity many service members miss after leaving the military.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As first time coffee shop owners, we invested our personal savings to turn this vision into a reality. While the community has shown incredible love and encouragement for the mission, building a sustainable business has come with unexpected challenges. What began as a heartfelt passion project has required resilience, adaptability, and continued support to grow into a lasting impact.

We remain committed to serving high quality coffee while creating opportunities that bring people together and help support veterans and their families.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
About Veteran Brew Coffee Co.

Veteran Brew Coffee Co. was created with a simple but powerful purpose: to bring veterans and the community together over a great cup of coffee while rebuilding the sense of camaraderie many service members miss after leaving the military. Founded by Steven Causey and Cesar Gil, Veteran Brew is more than a coffee shop. It is a mission driven brand focused on connection, purpose, and service beyond the uniform.

We specialize in high quality coffee and a welcoming environment where veterans, families, and local residents can gather, network, and support one another. Our brand blends military culture with the warmth of a neighborhood coffee shop, creating a unique atmosphere that honors service while being open and inviting to everyone. From our branding to our events, everything we do is centered around building relationships and creating a positive impact in the community.

What sets Veteran Brew apart is our commitment to mission over profit. This business was built with personal savings and a genuine desire to create a place that gives back, supporting veteran organizations, hosting community events, and creating opportunities for people to reconnect and feel part of something meaningful. The support and encouragement from the community has been incredible, and it continues to inspire us to keep pushing forward even through the challenges of starting a new business in a competitive industry.

Brand wise, we are most proud of creating something authentic, a brand that reflects resilience, service, and unity. Veteran Brew Coffee Co. represents the belief that coffee can be more than just a product; it can be a catalyst for conversation, encouragement, and community growth.

We want readers to know that when they support Veteran Brew, they are supporting more than a small business. They are supporting a mission to strengthen community ties and create a gathering place where people feel welcomed, valued, and connected.
