Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Jacinta Anyaoku.
Hi Dr. Jacinta, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I opened Hibiscus Aesthetics and Wellness 4 years ago in August 2021 out of a desire to practice medicine on my own terms. At the time my boys were 1 1/2 and almost 3. I loved being a physician, but I loved being a mom even more. I wanted to be present for my boys and found that the traditional model of practicing medicine just did not work for me and my family. After 8 years of working as an employed physician, I decided to open my own practice. I researched the options and settled on a direct care model. It allows physicians to practice without the constraints and influence of insurance billing and health system requirements. I have also always had a passion for aesthetics and added a medspa to the practice in 2022. Last year I added a board certification in obesity medicine to my resume, and this year I decided to transition to an aesthetics and wellness practice only. I now specialize in providing medical weight loss, hormonal care, and aesthetic services such as injectables and laser treatments. I am truly living out my dream as a mom, physician, and entrepreneur.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the early challenges I faced was figuring out how to market the practice. A traditional medical practice can rely on insurance companies to send patients who are in their network. However, if you are not contracted with insurance, patients can only find you by traditional marketing methods and word of mouth. I did a lot of on-the-ground networking in the early days. Joined various organizations and immersed myself in the local Katy business community. The practice has grown and my current patients are now my biggest referral source. I’m truly grateful for everyone that has come through our doors and trusted me with their care.

Hibiscus Aesthetics and Wellness is a physician owned medspa that offers aesthetic treatments, medical weight loss, and hormonal treatment. I have a special interest in treating PCOS patients. What’s next?
I would love to continue expanding by adding new services, additional staff/providers, and possibly even adding more locations in the greater Houston area. I love networking, partnering with other businesses, and participating in community events so hope to do more of that as well.
