Hi Gianni, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my law firm out of my parents’ closet. Literally. I was a single mom studying for the bar exam with my son sleeping in a bassinet next to me, and I promised God that if He helped me pass, I would tell the world it was because of Him.
The day I received my bar results, I posted a video montage to inspire other single moms, to show that it’s possible to chase your dreams even with a baby in your arms. That video went viral. I took it as a sign that I needed to fulfill my promise to God and use my voice to advocate for mothers who had been in my shoes.
That small beginning grew into Avalos Family Trial Attorneys and the Single Mom Attorney brand, which now reaches hundreds of thousands of parents across the country. What started as a message of hope has evolved into a full movement rooted in educating, empowering, and empathizing with single mothers navigating the family court system and single motherhood itself.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. The road has been anything but smooth. I’ve faced financial setbacks, personal heartbreak, industry-wide judgment for my niche marketing approach to women, and the constant balancing act of motherhood and entrepreneurship. There were nights when I didn’t know if I could keep the lights on, and mornings I still showed up to court running on two hours of sleep.
But every difficult season taught me something. I learned how to run a business, how to lead a team, and how to be the kind of lawyer who truly understands what it’s like to fight for your child. The challenges didn’t break me, they refined me, and they shaped both who I am and what my brand stands for.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Avalos Family Trial Attorneys is a Texas-based family law firm that represents parents who have the best interests of their child at heart. We handle everything from divorce, custody, and child support to enforcement and adoption. What sets us apart is how we show up for clients. We bring humanity back into our cases and make sure it’s seen in the courtroom. We take the time to educate our clients so they can make empowered decisions that protect their children long after their case is over.
The Single Mom Attorney brand was born from that same mission. Through social media, products like The Receipts custody journal, and community outreach, we give parents the tools to advocate for themselves. I’m proud that we’ve built something that merges legal education with empathy and culture. It’s more than law, it’s a lifestyle of strength and resilience.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My parents, Arturo and Marina, who taught me work ethic and humility. They owned a restaurant for nearly 40 years, and that restaurant paid for my education and fueled my drive to create something of my own.
My son, Abrahm, is my daily reminder of why I do this. He’s watched me build everything from the ground up, and I hope he learns that purpose and passion can coexist.
And my team at Avalos Family Trial Attorneys deserves so much credit. They’re the backbone of everything we do. They care deeply about our clients and share the same heart for serving families that I do.
Lastly, I owe a lot to the women who believed in me early on, clients, mentors, and followers, who saw something in me before the world did. They made me realize that this isn’t just my story. It’s all of ours.
