Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Powell.
Hi Kimberly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey has been one of resilience, reinvention, and learning that sometimes the hardest seasons of our lives are preparing us for the purpose we never saw coming.
For many years, I built a career that allowed me to wear many different hats, including education, human resources, payroll, administration, insurance, and the corporate world. Eventually, my creativity led me into entrepreneurship, where I spent nine years building Party Possible Rentals & More, an event decor business that allowed me to create beautiful experiences and celebrate some of life’s most meaningful moments with my clients.
But behind the scenes, I was also navigating one of the most difficult chapters of my life. After spending seven years in a narcissistic marriage, I had to find my way back to myself. That journey taught me that healing is not simply about surviving what happened to you, it is about rebuilding your confidence, rediscovering your voice, and learning to believe in yourself again.
I eventually turned my pain into purpose through my memoir, 2,426 Days, where I share my journey of survival, healing, and reclaiming my life. Writing and sharing my story helped me realize that my experiences were not meant to end with me. There were other women silently carrying pain, questioning their worth, or trying to figure out who they were after life changed them.
Today, I am entering a new chapter as the CEO of PowerHaus by KP, LLC, a brand centered around personal and professional renewal, purpose, and helping people move from where they have been into what is next. After retiring from event decorating, I made the decision to shift from simply creating beautiful spaces to creating spaces where people can grow, heal, connect, and rediscover their power.
I don’t believe my journey was about starting over. I believe it was about rebuilding and this time with everything I have learned, survived, and discovered about myself. Today, I am passionate about using my voice, my experiences, and my platform to encourage others, particularly women, to understand that their past does not have to define their future.
My story is still being written, but if there is one thing I know for sure, it is this: sometimes you have to lose the life you thought you wanted in order to discover the life you were truly meant to live.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. My journey has been filled with twists, setbacks, disappointments, and moments when I questioned whether I was on the right path. But I have learned that growth rarely happens on a smooth road.
One of my greatest struggles was navigating a difficult marriage while trying to hold on to myself. By the time that chapter ended, I had to rebuild my confidence, my sense of worth, and, in many ways, my identity. Healing from that experience was not something that happened overnight. There were emotional triggers, fear, self-doubt, and the challenge of learning to trust myself again.
Entrepreneurship also came with its own struggles. Building a business from the ground up meant wearing multiple hats, making mistakes, dealing with financial challenges, and learning lessons that no class or business book could fully prepare me for. There were times when I had to keep showing up even when things did not go as planned.
I have also had to learn how to pivot. After spending nine years building my event decor business, making the decision to retire from decorating and step into a new chapter was both exciting and scary. It meant letting go of something familiar and trusting that there was still more for me to do.
Looking back, I would not describe my journey as smooth, but I would describe it as transformative. Every challenge taught me something about resilience, faith, and the strength I did not realize I had. The struggles did not break me they helped shape the woman and leader I am becoming today.

Today, PowerHaus is evolving into a platform centered around personal and professional renewal. Through curated experiences, women’s empowerment events, retreats, speaking, mentorship, professional development, and intentional community-building, my goal is to create spaces where people can pause, reflect, heal, grow, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
One of the things that sets PowerHaus apart is that I do not believe in simply inspiring people for a moment and sending them back unchanged. I am passionate about creating experiences that encourage honest conversations and meaningful connections.
I am especially passionate about helping women who may be in a season of transition women who have spent years taking care of everyone else, survived difficult experiences, or simply find themselves asking, “What’s next for me?” I want them to know that it is never too late to rediscover who you are, reclaim your voice, and build a life that feels aligned with the woman you are becoming.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the courage it took to evolve. Walking away from a business I spent nine years building was not easy, but PowerHaus represents growth and the willingness to follow purpose even when the next chapter is not completely mapped out. The brand is still growing and evolving, and I believe that is part of its beauty.
What I want readers to know most is that PowerHaus by KP is more than a business it is a reflection of my belief that you can rebuild, reinvent, and rise again. Whether someone encounters the brand through an event, retreat, mentorship opportunity, speaking engagement, or another experience we create, my hope is that they leave feeling seen, empowered, and ready to take the next step toward the life they want to build.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I definitely did not get here alone. Along the way, I have been blessed with people who believed in me, encouraged me, challenged me, and supported me through different seasons of my life and business.
First and foremost, I give credit to my children and close circle of supporters. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey, especially when you are building something from the ground up and trying to figure things out as you go. Having people who encourage you, celebrate the wins, and remind you of your strength during difficult moments has meant more to me than they probably realize.
I am also grateful for the clients who trusted me throughout the nine years I owned Party Possible Rentals & More. Every client who booked me, referred me, shared my work, or trusted me with their special moments played a role in helping me build my business. Their support gave me the opportunity to grow not only as an entrepreneur, but also as a leader and creative.
My PR Coach, Dr Meka Diamond Starks and good friend Rebecca Davis have poured wisdom into me and helped me see possibilities beyond what I could see for myself at times. I believe we all need people in our lives who can speak life into us, offer honest guidance, and sometimes push us beyond our comfort zones.
And I cannot overlook the women and individuals who have supported my events, shared their stories, attended my conferences, purchased my book, or simply encouraged me to keep going. Their support is one of the reasons I continue to evolve and pursue this next chapter with PowerHaus by KP.
Success, to me, is never just about one person. It is about the people who show up, believe in the vision, offer encouragement, open doors, and sometimes simply remind you not to give up. I am grateful for every person who has been part of my journey, because each of them has played a role in helping me become the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
