Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Miranda.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into health and fitness began in 2009 when I was diagnosed with PCOS. At the time, I was approaching 300 pounds, struggling with my health, and was told that PCOS could affect my ability to have children. I was prescribed Metformin, but that diagnosis also pushed me to begin researching what PCOS was and what I could do to improve my health.
I completely changed the way I was eating and started becoming more active. Within six months, my menstrual cycle returned, and over the course of about a year, I lost nearly 100 pounds. What started as an effort to change my own life became a passion for understanding nutrition, movement, hormones, and the habits that create lasting change.
Years later, I became a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach and began working professionally in fitness. My own experiences with PCOS, weight loss, pregnancy, two C-sections, postpartum recovery, and motherhood gave me an even deeper understanding of how much a woman’s body and life can change through different seasons. Becoming a mother to two boys after once fearing I might not be able to have children has made this journey especially meaningful.
Today, I am the founder of Lydia Miranda Fitness, where I provide in-person personal training in Folsom as well as online coaching. I primarily work with women—especially mothers, beginners, and women navigating PCOS, insulin resistance, postpartum changes, and hormonal transitions. My coaching goes beyond workouts or quick fixes. I help women build strength, improve their relationship with food, create sustainable habits, and rebuild confidence in themselves.
Lydia Miranda Fitness is rooted in my faith, my personal experiences, and my belief that women are capable of rebuilding at any stage of life. Everything I teach comes from a journey I have lived myself, and today I have the privilege of using that experience to help other women create their own transformation.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning that transformation is not a straight line. After losing nearly 100 pounds, I still had to continue managing PCOS, weight fluctuations, hormonal changes, and the mental side of maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Pregnancy, two C-sections, postpartum recovery, and becoming a mother also changed my body and my priorities. I have had to learn how to give myself the same patience and grace that I encourage my clients to have.
Building Lydia Miranda Fitness has brought its own challenges. Being a knowledgeable coach and operating a successful business are two different skill sets. I have had to learn marketing, sales, client retention, technology, programming, and business systems—often while caring for two young children. There have also been facility changes, periods of rebuilding my clientele, and moments when I questioned whether I was moving forward quickly enough.
Rebranding the business under my own name was another important step. It required me to stop hiding behind a business name and fully stand behind my experience, my values, and the kind of coach I wanted to become.
The road has included setbacks, uncertainty, and many seasons of starting again, but those experiences have shaped the way I coach. I understand what it feels like to lose momentum, feel uncomfortable in your body, or wonder whether you are capable of changing. I have learned that setbacks do not erase progress and that rebuilding is not failure. Sometimes rebuilding is exactly how we become stronger. That belief is now at the heart of Lydia Miranda Fitness.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lydia Miranda Fitness ?
Lydia Miranda Fitness is a women-centered personal training and coaching business built around strength, sustainable habits, nutrition education, and accountability. I provide one-on-one personal training in Folsom, California, along with online coaching for women who need more flexibility.
I specialize in working with women—particularly mothers, beginners, busy professionals, and women navigating PCOS, insulin resistance, postpartum recovery, perimenopause, and other hormonal transitions. My services include customized strength-training programs, nutrition guidance, habit coaching, progress assessments, ongoing accountability, and support that considers the client’s lifestyle as a whole. My offerings range from in-person coaching packages to online programs, glute-focused training, postpartum support, corporate wellness challenges, and deeper transformation programs such as the Phoenix Project and Habit Demolition & Reconstruction.
What sets Lydia Miranda Fitness apart is that I do not coach from theory alone. I understand what it feels like to struggle with your weight, hormones, confidence, consistency, and relationship with food because I have lived through those challenges myself. I also understand pregnancy, C-section recovery, postpartum changes, motherhood, and the reality of trying to prioritize your health while caring for everyone else.
My approach is not based on punishment, shame, extreme diets, or temporary results. I want my clients to understand why they are doing something, develop habits they can realistically maintain, and become confident enough to eventually trust themselves. Progress is not measured only by a number on the scale. We also look at strength, energy, mobility, confidence, consistency, and quality of life.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that I chose to build the business under my own name. Lydia Miranda Fitness reflects my faith, my story, my values, and the standards I bring to my work. The brand represents rebuilding—not pretending that life will always be perfect, but learning how to return after setbacks without giving up on yourself.
I want readers to know that they do not have to be fit, confident, or completely ready before reaching out. My job is to meet women where they are, help them create a realistic path forward, and remind them that it is never too late to rebuild.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Four sources of support deserve a great deal of credit for helping me reach this point: my faith; my husband, Edward; entrepreneur Andy Frisella; and the owner of the gym where I train, Kenneth Foster, also known as Kenny Kobain.
As a woman of faith, my relationship with God has been the foundation of my journey. My faith has given me strength, direction, and the perseverance to continue moving forward, even when the process has been difficult. It reminds me that my purpose is greater than my circumstances and encourages me to trust the path God has placed before me.
My husband, Edward, has supported me through every stage of building Lydia Miranda Fitness. He has encouraged me emotionally, lifted me up when I questioned myself, and acted as my financial backer from time to time when the business did not yet have the capital it needed. He also steps in to handle practical things that need to be taken care of when you are building a small business with limited resources. His support has allowed me to keep moving forward.
Andy Frisella played a major role in developing my entrepreneurial mindset. He introduced me to the idea that I could become a business owner, build something of my own, and refuse to stop simply because the process became difficult. His message about discipline, personal responsibility, and relentlessly pursuing my goals helped me believe that entrepreneurship was possible for me.
Kenneth Foster, better known as Kenny Kobain, owns the gym where I currently train. Kenny continually pushes and encourages me. He reminds me that I have heart, that I am capable of helping more people than I realize, and that I already have what it takes within me. When things become difficult, he reminds me to keep going, regardless of how hard the road gets.
Each source of support has played a different role in my journey. My faith has given me strength and purpose, my husband has helped make the vision possible, Andy helped shape my mindset, and Kenny continues to challenge me to recognize my own potential and keep pushing forward.
