Hidden Gems: Meet Shilpa Patel of RESOLVE by Shilpa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shilpa Patel.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I spent about 15 years focused on raising my family before I ever imagined I would become a business owner. But in many ways, those years are exactly what led me here.

Like so many women, I became very good at taking care of everyone else while putting myself further and further down the list. At the same time, I was navigating my own health challenges and became increasingly curious about why we can be doing so many of the “right” things and still not feel like ourselves.

I already had a master’s degree in clinical psychology, so I had always been interested in how our experiences and stress affect us. As I began learning more about functional health, I became fascinated by the connections between the nervous system, gut health, hormones, metabolism, nutrition, and the symptoms we often dismiss as just part of being a busy woman.

When my kids got older, I decided to go back to school and became a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. That eventually led me to create Resolve Functional Testing, my virtual functional wellness practice.

Today, I work primarily with busy women who are used to being the strong one and holding everything together. My goal is to help them understand what their bodies may be trying to tell them, use functional testing when appropriate, and find realistic ways to support their health without making wellness another full time job.

Resolve really grew out of something I had to learn myself. You can take care of the people you love and still put yourself on the list too.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In many ways, that is exactly why Resolve exists.

I’ve spent much of my life being the person who could handle things. I was raising my family, managing a household, and moving through some incredibly difficult seasons while continuing to show up for the people around me. I’ve experienced significant grief and the loss of several people I love, and those experiences taught me that you can look incredibly strong and capable on the outside while carrying a tremendous amount internally.

Starting a business after being out of the traditional workforce for about 15 years brought a different kind of challenge. I went back to school, rebuilt my confidence professionally, learned how to run a business from the ground up, and figured out how to become an entrepreneur while still being a very present mom and wife. There was never a clean transition where one role ended and another began.

Along the way, I’ve had to learn the same lesson I now share with the women I work with. My needs cannot always be the easiest ones to reschedule. Being the strong one can come with a hidden cost when taking care of yourself is always what gets pushed to tomorrow.

Those experiences have shaped the practitioner and business owner I am today. I don’t want to give women another impossible wellness checklist. I want to help them understand their bodies and find realistic ways to support their health within the lives they’re actually living.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
RESOLVE by Shilpa is a virtual functional wellness practice for busy women who are used to being the strong one.

Many of the women who come to me are doing what they have been told to do. They eat well, exercise, take supplements, keep up with their appointments, and somehow keep everyone else’s lives running too. Yet they are still dealing with fatigue, digestive issues, hormone changes, stubborn weight changes, stress, or simply feeling like something is off. Often they have been told their labs are “normal,” but they still don’t feel like themselves.

That is where my work begins.

I combine functional lab testing, nutrition, lifestyle support, and my background in psychology to help women connect the dots between gut health, hormones, metabolism, stress, and the nervous system. When appropriate, we can look deeper through functional testing rather than continuing to guess at what their body might need.

What sets RESOLVE apart is that I am just as interested in whether a recommendation is realistic as I am in whether it looks good on paper. Most women do not need another long list of things they are failing to do. They need to understand which changes matter most and how to fit them into an already full life.

That philosophy became the foundation of the RFT Method, my whole person approach to helping women build sustainable health habits while investigating the deeper factors that may be contributing to their symptoms. I offer private functional testing and wellness support as well as a 90 day RFT Method group program and community.

What I am most proud of is that RESOLVE has become bigger than lab testing. It is a space where women can stop feeling like they have to choose between taking care of everyone they love and taking care of themselves. I want women to leave my work understanding their bodies better, feeling more confident advocating for their health, and knowing that they deserve a place on their own list too.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see the industry moving toward something women have been asking for all along: more personalized support, more education, and a better understanding of how the different systems in our bodies work together.

We have more access to information, testing, wearable technology, and health data than ever before. But I don’t think the future of wellness is simply more information. Women are already overwhelmed with information. I think the real opportunity is helping them understand what actually matters for their body and giving them the support and accountability to turn that information into sustainable habits.

That is also how I see RESOLVE growing. I want to reach more women without losing the personal connection that is at the heart of my practice. I see more group programs, accountability, education, and community, alongside individualized functional testing and one on one support for women who need a deeper level of care.

Eventually, I would love to build a team of practitioners who share my philosophy and values so we can support more women while maintaining the experience I want every client to have.

I also practice what I teach through the RFT Method, which means growth cannot come at the expense of my own health or family. Work life balance is nonnegotiable for me. I want to build a business that shows women it is possible to be ambitious, make an impact, and still create boundaries that protect the life you are working so hard to build.
