Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittnei C Leon.
Hi Brittnei C, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, I’m Brittnei C, a Nonprofit Specialist and CEO of Write the Vision Plainly, LLC. I’m born and raised in the beautiful city of Houston, Texas. Before I was a Nonprofit Specialist and CEO, I worked in corporate as a paralegal assistant at my former job for five years. Although I loved my job, I knew it was better elsewhere.
The day came where I parted ways with my job and it was the best day of my life! I was able to embrace a new chapter that led me to grant writing and all things Church, Business, Nonprofit and all things grant writing and all things business and nonprofit. In my first year of writing grant proposals I won over $270,000 funding and to date over $800,000 in funding I coach how you can qualify for funding too.
I’d never thought I’d do more than write grants. I’ve been featured at the SCORE Houston Chapter as a Workshop Presenter, Workshop Presenter at the Zakat Foundation of America, Appeared in more than 7 Episodes of Echoes of Impact with Noura on NowMediaTV, 953Jamz Radio “Jamz with a ‘Z’ ” with Me-Me Money. I’m an author, coach and now, VoyageHouston. (Yay! I’m super excited)
My Business, Write the Vision Plainly, LLC, founded on scripture Habakkuk 2:2, “write the vision and make it plan” and at the time of this article. I’m headed for my sixth year as a Nonprofit Specialist. I’m excited to share my story in hopes that it will bring encouragement to anyone looking to start the business and live their dreams even if the circumstances are unconventional.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t always been easy. In 2019 one obstacle I faced, I was contacted by VoyageHouston and I wasn’t ready. I was unprepared: I had just started my business, after parting with my previous job, I learned about navigating my business. I was furthering my education in Paralegal Studies and a 2025 Graduate. As rare as second chances are, I’m so glad to share my story.
Another obstacle I’ve faced in my business is my “why”. For me, “my why” is past motivation or trying to motivate myself on the days I don’t feel passionate. I remember why I started my business, it was to help and to make a difference – cliche, but stick with me.
My differentiator in the oversaturated nonprofit space is pursuing funding with grants and other sources of matching funding for their Church, Business, Nonprofit. I help navigate the complex components of each proposal. I don’t just tell one “how to write the perfect winning proposal”, but give practical solutions to qualify them for the funding they need. Additionally, I have.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Write the Vision Plainly, LLC?

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Can you talk to us about your view on risk taking. Have you taken any major risks (and if so, can you tell us about those risks)? Regardless of whether you view yourself as a risk-taker or not, we’d love to hear your perspective on how you think about risk.
Risks are the necessary push I need to get me out of my comfort zone. The risks I’ve taken lately is dusting off my acting chops and making more engaging videos and relatable content for my audience. The videos are tools to give insights about the grant process and how it works with a dash of comedy or reliability. The views suggest my audience looks forward to my next videos.
At first I was worried about my videos not being retable enough or completely off topic for grant proposals. I was also worried about the comments and- sure I’ve received some wild ones, that comes with the territory. I get lots of positive and funny comments with amazing feedback. This helps me get better at what I do.
A recent risk I took was attending the BNXT networking event hosted by Obsidi, a tech event. It was open to all entrepreneurs. I went to get out my comfort zone because I never make the first move to introduce myself. Here I was able to be the first to speak and introduce myself (yay!), make some connections and enjoy myself without overthinking about if I made a good impression. I left that event feeling revitalized, inspired and ready for what’s next!
