Inspiring Conversations with Roidy Cruz of Camila’s Sweets & Bites

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roidy Cruz.

Hi Roidy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Camila’s Sweets & Bites was born around January 2017. I started planning my daughter’s 1st birthday party, and I wanted to rent a Cotton Candy machine. When I looked the prices, and how you can rent them for a few hours and make money, I started researching all about Cotton Candy. We started selling in a home garage, to family, friends and neighbors. We have grown into 2 concession stands , and a food truck. We do all kinds of events from Birthdays, Weddings, Festivals, Farmers Markets, School events, Apartments, Corporate events, etc. We proudly stand by providing high quality products, excellent customer service and affordable prices. We’re family owned and we take care of our customers, we love making happy faces with our treats.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been all roses and rainbows. In 2020 I was in a major car accident, I had 3 fractures, and had to be in a wheelchair for over 2 years. After several months of physical therapy and my family being my greatest supporters, I was able to keep my business running, and continued doing events even on my darkest times. I was on a mission to grow my business, so a tragic accident wasn’t going to stop my dreams and goals.

As you know, we’re big fans of Camila’s Sweets & Bites. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

My favorite childhood memory was eating pink Cotton Candy in a festival that came to our city every year. The sweet, fluffy Cotton Candy is a hit in every event we work.
