Inspiring Conversations with Vanessa Munoz of Fuerza Fitness HTX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Munoz.

Hi Vanessa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started Fuerza Fitness HTX in August of 2025, and my doors opened to teach group fitness classes in July 2026. I’ve been in the fitness industry- training clients and leading group classes- since 2016. It has been a long-standing dream of mine to create a welcoming fitness space in the Gulfgate/ Second Ward area for a very long time. I am proud to say we are finally open and just getting started growing our community!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a relatively smooth road. I am learning every single day- especially about marketing! FFHTX is a one-woman show; I run everything for now. That said, some days are more challenging than others. I am extremely blessed, though, and try to view every challenge or “setback” as an opportunity.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Fuerza Fitness HTX?
Fuerza Fitness HTX is more than a fitness studio. It’s a community built on strength, confidence, and connection. Located in Southeast Houston, we offer welcoming, high-energy group fitness classes designed to help people of all fitness levels feel stronger, more confident, and empowered in their everyday lives.

Our classes include full-body strength training, HIIT, sculpt, glute-focused workouts, and dance classes set to the tune of Latin artists. Whether someone is just beginning their fitness journey or looking for a new challenge, our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable showing up, challenging themselves, and finding their Fuerza.

As a Latina entrepreneur, Houston native, mother, and former Houston Texans Cheerleader, my journey in fitness has come full circle. After years of training clients, teaching group fitness, and managing a fitness studio, I realized I wanted to build something of my own—something that reflected my values and gave back to the community that shaped me. I started with an empty warehouse space and a vision, and I’ve worked to transform it into a place where people (especially women) can come together through movement.

What sets FFHTX apart is our emphasis on community over perfection. Fitness can sometimes feel intimidating, especially for beginners or people who don’t see themselves represented in traditional fitness spaces. I want Fuerza to feel different: approachable, inclusive, energizing, and rooted in the belief that strength looks different on everyone.

I’m most proud of building a brand that represents more than a workout. The name *Fuerza* means strength in Spanish, and to me, it represents the strength we discover in ourselves and the strength we create when we support one another. I hope that Fuerza Fitness HTX continues to grow into a wellness hub for our community, creating opportunities for people to move, connect, build confidence, and feel like they belong.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
JUST GET STARTED!!

You have to start somewhere. Don’t wait to “feel ready” to start or open your business. Nothing is perfect, and once you can let go of the notion that it has to be, you will free yourself from that impossible standard and start to really do the work. God gave you the dream/vision for a reason. Lean on Him, and you will not fail.
