Kristi Cline on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Kristi Cline shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Kristi, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
We recently built and moved into our forever home on the Texas Gulf Coast and have a new puppy. Captain is a white lab, 8 months old, and full of a crazy amount of energy. Both living on the water and a new puppy can certainly bring much needed joy to our lives!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kristi Cline, founder of We Write It Now Résumés & Career Resources, a Texas-based career strategy and personal branding firm working with professionals across the country. I help mid-level and senior leaders get clear on their value, tell their story with confidence, and land roles that actually fit—not just roles that look good on paper.

What makes my work different is that it’s never just about a résumé. A résumé is one piece of a much bigger picture. I take a holistic approach that blends strategy, storytelling, LinkedIn visibility, interview prep, and mindset—because job searching is really a marketing campaign, and most people were never taught how to run one.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: careers don’t stall because people lack talent. They stall because people struggle to articulate their value—and that’s what I help change.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I wouldn’t use the word powerful, but something that stands out in my mind was a class I took in high school based on the book: See You at the Top by Zig Ziglar. His philosophies taught me that we can have anything we want, when approaching it with hard work, discipline, and a positive mindset. Ever since then, I’ve focused on writing down my goals and desires, meditating on them, visualizing them, and speaking them into existence.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Plain and simple — the fear of playing big.

I was taught to play it safe, be practical, and to avoid risk. For a long time, that translated into holding back—choosing what felt safe and secure over what I really wante. Playing big didn’t feel responsible or realistic; it felt uncomfortable. And so I didn’t.

What I’ve learned over time is that growth rarely comes from playing it safe. It comes from trusting yourself enough to step into something bigger.

I’ve also learned that the smaller you play, the longer it takes to grow.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Faith, family, and relationships. I’m blessed with a close-knit group of friends—we’ve been through everything together—and a big family where we genuinely enjoy each other and love spending time together. As for faith, it’s what has gotten me this far in life. It grounds me, guides my decisions, and shapes how I show up in the world.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d be more intentional with my time and less attached to productivity for productivity’s sake. I would reduce the hours spent on my business and shift that time toward what matters most—creating memories with family and friends, giving back to organizations I believe in, and taking on fun new projects simply because they bring me joy.
