Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Alex Sanchez

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Alex Sanchez. Check out our conversation below.

Alex, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Many people have a misconception about the number of planners in the event industry. While it may seem like there are too many, there’s actually plenty of love to go around. Each planner brings something unique, and it’s all about finding the one who fits your needs perfectly.

Choosing a planner is similar to shopping for the right pair of shoes. You might try on several pairs before you find the one that fits just right, looks great, and makes you feel empowered. In the same way, selecting a planner is not just about their skills; it’s also about how comfortable and inspired you feel working with them.

Your planner and vendors will be there for you during one of the most meaningful experiences of your life, so it’s important to have a team that genuinely understands you.

The energy that surrounds you on your wedding day makes all the difference in how you feel and what you’ll remember.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Alex, the owner of LexStartwithYou Events & Design. We’re a planning company dedicated to creating weddings that are all about you, without the stress of having to handle everything yourself.

Before starting LexStartwithYou, I had the opportunity to work with several amazing companies, planning all kinds of events from baby showers and birthday parties to corporate meetings and more. But my absolute favorite have always been weddings.

There’s just something special about getting to know each couple’s love story and being part of their journey. Over time, I realized how much I truly loved what I do, and that it was time to create something of my own. That’s how LexStartwithYou was born. I’m so excited to keep connecting with amazing people and helping more couples bring their dream weddings to life.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My mom taught me the most about work. She’s one of the hardest working people I know, juggling long hours and multiple jobs to support our family. Even when things got tough and exhausting, she never gave up or complained; she just kept going with determination and strength.

She’s a great reminder that no matter how hard work becomes, kindness and empathy should never be forgotten because the way we treat others at work matters just as much as the work itself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell myself to stop stressing. That it’s important to live fully, worry less, and remember that everything will work out in the end.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that God is real. Though we can’t see Him, I feel His presence in the moments that matter most. He works in ways we can’t explain. Guiding, providing, and connecting us with people who change our lives for the better. I can’t prove His existence, but I’ve seen His hand in my life too many times to doubt it.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I’ve learned that you won’t always get praise, and that’s okay. What matters is finding joy in what you do and taking pride in giving your best. You can’t rely on others’ approval, sometimes, you just have to be your own biggest cheerleader.
