Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Elodie Espinoza of Washington

Elodie Espinoza shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Elodie, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
For the longest time I’ve been a wanderer, it’s literally in my DNA. But lately I’ve been cultivating a path for my life and career. And I love it! There’s definitely still some detours to wander and not take things too serious but now there’s direction.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Elodie.
I am a trans Latina hairstylist in Houston.
I do color, extensions, haircuts, the only thing I currently don’t do is short short hair.
I’ve been known to specialize in red and vivid colors but I love everything that I do.
I am currently a commission stylist at REV salon but starting January of 2026 I will be doing independent!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I always believed I had to perform to be loved. Stand out more, be more loud, just over compensate so I’d be memorable.
Now I know that I am enough, and I can just be and those who are meant to be in my life will come.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There’s been many times. When life’s gotten really hard, when I didn’t have direction or mentors, when I wasn’t in environments that continued to help me grow. Thankfully, I’ve always had mentor and people in my life that continued to push because he believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Connections and having a good time.
I love people and I love connecting with people but I also love not taking things too seriously.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That no matter your start, your upbringing and your history.
Anything is possible when you believe in yourself.
