Marquise Ellis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Marquise, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is thanking God for a new breath of life and being able to get to the grind of everyday life for my family.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, I’m Marquise Ellis, better known as DjMrE. I created Musicjamzentertainment to make your parties unforgettable. What sets Musicjamzentertainment apart is our strong focus on helping the community. We believe that everyone should have access to great entertainment, so we offer our services at low and affordable prices. Whether it’s a birthday party, wedding, or any special event, we work hard to bring fun and joy to your celebrations while also giving back to those in need.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really changed how I view the world was when I became an adult and started my own family. This experience opened my eyes to the importance of hard work and dedication in taking care of those I love. I understood that providing for a family is not just about having a job, but also about putting in effort every day to ensure they are happy and healthy. This journey taught me that while life can be challenging, the rewards of seeing my family thrive make all the hard work worthwhile. It shaped my values and showed me the true meaning of responsibility and love.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be all that you can be regardless what other people think or have thought.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say yes I’m just a unique person and like to just stay to myself. I try to encourage everyone as much as possible and tell them that the darkness doesn’t last forever it’s light on the other side of the tunnel even when it’s hard to believe myself.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Music has always played a big role in my life, even if I’m not doing it as my main job. In high school and college, I was part of the marching band, which helped me develop a strong passion for music. This experience taught me the joy of playing with others and created lasting memories. Although my career may have taken a different path, my love for music remains a vital part of who I am. It’s something I adapted to over time, but the connection I feel to music continues to inspire me every day.
