Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Segura Nino of North

Segura Nino shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Segura, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day starts with prayer, exercise, and checking to see if I received any inquiries on my salon suites. I then turn my attention to my kids, to making breakfast, packing my kids school lunches, and getting them out the door for school.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Segura Nino book author, mentor and I own Sv Beauty & Spa, This is my second time telling my story to Canvas Rebel which is exciting to do again for many that has not heard my story yet, life changes every second, every day, every month and every year and I have so much to tell you since the last time I shared my story in 2023. Since then, I’ve been able to open two more salon locations within those 2 years which is a blessing because 3 years ago I would have never thought I would own 3 locations. I founded my first location in 2022, I created Sv Beauty & Spa because I always had a passion for owning my own salon since a little girl, Sv Beauty & Spa is a place where women are able to come into my salon and do what they love doing beauty wise. I love seeing their talent, passion & ambition, It makes me ecstatic that I’m apart of their vision to them becoming successful. It’s definitely been a journey, starting esthetician school recently a long with being a wife and mother of 3 is not easy, Once I graduate I plan to work in my first salon location and transition my salon into a full spa with other estheticians working under me while I mentor them. Once my salons are running smoothly I want to eventually create franchises and mentor young women that want to one day become a salon suite owner like I.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my children shaped how I see myself today as acting as a mirror for self-reflection. The decisions that I make in life are very important because I know whatever decisions I make will influence my children’s behavior, mood and self-worth. I am thankful that my kids helped shaped how I see myself, it help me grow and transition into a better woman.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering in life taught me a lot, walking through pain teaches us in ways that success could never, suffering taught me how to prepare when things fall apart, life will not always be great! A lot of people look at suffering as a fail but in reality it’s a blessing. It taught me self-strength, appreciation, resilience and so much more.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My friends would definitely say that my family my business, and loyalty matters to me. They know I value that, I’m always talking about them non-stop, a long with business ideals.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow my tenants would miss my professionalism, loyalty, and respect. I treat all of my tenants with respect, fairness and professionalism which it’s important with the title that I hold as a landlord.
