Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgiuna Davis.
Hi Georgiuna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been doing hair for over 17 years, long before I ever thought it could be a career. What began as a fun way to style friends and family quickly became something deeper. During the pandemic, I took a leap of faith and launched Humble Babes Collections a brand built on the belief that natural beauty should be celebrated, and healthy hair is always the goal. Now, with 5 years as a licensed stylist, I specialize in silk presses, natural styles, loc retwists, and custom treatments that are tailored to your hair’s unique needs. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Owner Natasha Williams at Salon X Change in Austin, TX for the past two years. With over 10 years of experience in the hair industry, Natasha has been a guiding force in my professional journey. Last year, we faced an unexpected setback a fire that forced us out of our space. It was a tough season, but I’m proud to share that we’ve returned to our original location and we’re officially back in business and ready to work! On a personal note, I recently welcomed my beautiful baby girl, who’s now 4 months old. Motherhood has been nothing short of transformative it’s introduced me to a new version of myself while reinforcing a passion that’s always been part of me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was far from a smooth ride.
The pandemic hit hard I lost my serving job of 10 years and spent the next year struggling to find work. Living paycheck to paycheck, I was trying to juggle bills while still chasing my passion for hair.
Eventually, I found a job that was okay… but deep down, I knew I wasn’t happy. I wanted to be a full-time stylist, but fear held me back from taking that leap.
Then one day, during my lunch break, I walked into Salon X Change just to talk with the manager. That conversation changed everything. It gave me the clarity and confidence I needed. I went back to work, put in my two-week notice with my HR job that same day… and the rest is history.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a licensed hairstylist and the owner of Humble Babes Collections, based in Central Texas. I specialize in silk presses, natural styling, loc retwists, and customized hair treatments focused on maintaining and promoting healthy hair. My goal is to help my clients embrace their natural beauty while creating a luxury salon experience that feels warm, personal, and empowering.
I’m most known for my helping people transform their hair and having healthy hair with consistency and routine. I love educating clients about proper hair care and creating a space where they feel seen. What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come in my journey. I started doing hair over 17 years ago, just for fun—family, friends, experimenting with natural styles. But during the pandemic, I took a leap of faith and turned that passion into a full-time career. Now, years later, I’ve built a loyal clientele and a brand rooted in love, care, and consistency.
What sets me apart is my authentic connection with clients, my attention to detail, and my commitment to healthy hair over everything. I don’t just style hair—I nurture it. And I make sure every person who sits in my chair leaves feeling better, inside and out.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Yes, I’ve definitely taken some major risks along my journey—and looking back, they’ve been some of the most defining moments of my career. One of the biggest was leaving a stable HR job to pursue my passion for hair full time. I had already lost my serving job of 10 years during the pandemic, spent months living paycheck to paycheck. I still wasn’t fulfilled I knew deep down that my calling was behind the chair. To me, risk isn’t about being reckless it’s about believing in yourself enough to bet on your future. Every risk I’ve taken has come with uncertainty, but it’s also come with growth. I’ve learned that stepping into your purpose, even when it’s scary, can lead to the most rewarding outcomes.
