Today we’d like to introduce you to Latoshia Lee.
Hi Latoshia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began with a passion for helping others reach their fullest potential. Before becoming a teacher, I spent four years as a Direct Support Professional working with adults with disabilities. That experience taught me the importance of compassion, inclusion, dignity, and recognizing the unique abilities in every individual.
I then spent more than 23 years teaching in the private school sector, where I saw firsthand how encouragement, patience, and the right opportunities can help people grow and succeed. Over time, I realized that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities needed opportunities to continue learning, building friendships, developing life skills, and becoming more independent beyond the classroom.
That vision led me to create Infinite Elevations, which began as a small after-school social club and has grown into a community offering social programs, seasonal camps, and a Day Training Program for transitioning adults. Our goal is to help individuals build confidence, independence, meaningful relationships, and a sense of belonging.
What started as a vision has grown into something more meaningful than I ever imagined. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but the most rewarding part has always been watching our participants grow, discover their abilities, and shine in their own unique ways. I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, and I’m grateful to be building a community where that belief comes to life every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Building Infinite Elevations from a small after-school social club into the organization it is today has come with challenges, lessons, and moments that required faith, patience, and perseverance. One of the biggest challenges has been finding the resources, support, and opportunities needed to grow while staying true to our mission of serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
As someone who has always preferred working behind the scenes, stepping into the role of founder and learning to share my vision with others has also been a journey. Building something meaningful takes more than passion; it takes dedication, sacrifice, and a willingness to keep going even when the path isn’t clear.
Through it all, I’ve learned the importance of believing in the vision, surrounding myself with people who believe in the mission, and celebrating even the smallest victories. The support of our families, staff, volunteers, community partners, and everyone who has believed in Infinite Elevations has made such a difference.
Most importantly, our participants remind me every day why the work matters. Seeing their growth, confidence, friendships, and accomplishments makes every challenge worthwhile. I’ve learned that meaningful things don’t always come easily, but when your purpose is bigger than the obstacles, you find the strength to keep moving forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Infinite Elevations, we provide programs and opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn, grow, build relationships, and thrive in a supportive, inclusive community. Our programs include Friday Night Social Club, summer, winter, and holiday camps, and a Day Training Program designed to help transitioning adults develop independence, confidence, life skills, and meaningful connections within their communities.
With four years of experience as a Direct Support Professional and more than 23 years in education, I bring a unique combination of experience, understanding, and passion to this work. I specialize in creating opportunities that go beyond traditional education and support services by focusing on the whole person—their abilities, interests, relationships, independence, and potential.
What sets Infinite Elevations apart is that we see abilities before limitations and possibilities where others may see barriers. We strive to create an environment where every individual feels valued, included, and celebrated for who they are. We understand that growth looks different for everyone, and we believe every milestone, big or small, deserves to be recognized.
What I am most proud of is seeing how far Infinite Elevations has come, from a small after-school social club to a growing community that provides meaningful opportunities for individuals and their families. Watching our participants build friendships, gain confidence, develop new skills, and discover what they are capable of is the most rewarding part of what I do.
Ultimately, I want Infinite Elevations to be more than a program. I want it to be a place where individuals belong, families feel supported, and everyone has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. That is the heart of our mission, and it is what continues to inspire me every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is seeing others succeed, especially our participants at Infinite Elevations. Watching someone gain confidence, develop a new skill, build a friendship, or accomplish something they once thought was out of reach brings me so much joy. Sometimes, it’s the smallest moments—a smile, a laugh, a new connection, or a breakthrough—that mean the most.
I’ve always been someone who finds happiness in working behind the scenes and helping others shine. Knowing that I’m making a difference in someone’s life and creating opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to feel valued, included, and capable gives my work purpose.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the families, staff, volunteers, and community members who have become part of the Infinite Elevations journey. Seeing what we can accomplish together reminds me that meaningful work is never done alone.
At the end of the day, what makes me happiest is knowing that someone feels seen, supported, and believed in because of something we did. That’s why I do what I do. For me, success isn’t about recognition; it’s about making a difference, one person at a time.
