Hi Nichole, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my career as a traditional hairstylist, but life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After stepping away from the industry for five years to focus on my recovery, I returned knowing I wanted my work to have a deeper purpose.
I initially pursued becoming a Redken Artist, to help other hairstylists refine their craft. While I loved the idea of teaching, I still felt called to something different. That clarity came during a cruise vacation with my mother and her friends. As I talked with women from all walks of life, I was struck by how many had experienced hair loss. Their stories made me realize I had been quietly navigating my own hair loss journey for years, carefully concealing it with high-quality wigs. Most people had no idea.
That moment changed everything. I realized that by sharing my own experience, I could help other women feel seen, understood, and hopeful. I immersed myself in advanced hair replacement education and eventually discovered The Garnish Collective in Raleigh, North Carolina a salon dedicated to serving hair loss guests exclusively. I made the decision to relocate so I could fully immerse myself to learn from leaders in the field and master the latest hair loss solutions.
Today, I divide my time between Garnish in Raleigh and Mane and Tailored Salon in Houston, serving clients in both cities. What began as a career in hairstyling has evolved into a mission: helping women reclaim their confidence through personalized, luxury hair replacement solutions. For me, it’s never just about hair—it’s about restoring identity, dignity, and the confidence to show up fully as yourself.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, it has been rough and difficult road. Starting over as an assistant after 20+ years, in a new city and learning a completely different side of the industry was challenging—financially, emotionally, and professionally. For most of my career, I had convinced myself that hair extensions and hair loss solutions weren’t for me. Looking back, I realize that was a limiting belief. I had to challenge myself, expand my perspective on what was possible, and fully embrace an entirely new specialty. Learning to work in two different salons, in two different states while serving two very different client needs hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has strengthened my confidence and reaffirmed that I am exactly where I’m meant to be. The journey has been incredibly rewarding because I know I’m making a meaningful difference in the lives of the women I serve.

I’m a hairstylist who specializes in hair replacement for women, helping each client find the option that best fits her lifestyle, goals, and desired level of maintenance and beauty budget. What I’m most proud of is having the courage to pivot later in my career and dedicate myself to work that is deeply meaningful. I believe what sets me apart is that I don’t just understand hair loss professionally—I understand it personally. As a hairstylist who also experiences hair loss, I know firsthand the emotional impact it can have on a woman’s confidence and identity. That personal experience allows me to serve my clients with empathy, compassion, and authenticity. My mission is to help women realize they don’t have to accept hair loss as something that defines them. There are beautiful, customizable solutions available, and I want every woman to know she deserves to feel confident, empowered, and like herself again.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One thing that surprises most people is that I also experience hair loss. For years, very few people knew because I had become so skilled at concealing it with high-quality wigs and hair replacement solutions. As I’ve become more comfortable sharing my story, I’ve realized that my own experience is one of my greatest strengths. It allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level because I truly understand the emotions, vulnerability, and decision-making process that come with hair loss.
