Today we’d like to introduce you to Reeta Perry.
Hi Reeta, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a Mixed Media artist that’s originally from Atlanta, GA and have been in living in Houston (for the 2nd time around) a little over 4 years now. I was also born and raised partially in Germany. I am currently attending Fullsail University and studying Media Communications, I actually graduate on June 3 this year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t easy figuring out who I was as a creative in the beginning but I eventually learned how important it is to simply not overthink it and just do what makes me feel free and happy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I used to paint and draw alot up until a few years ago. I only stopped because I enjoyed photography way more. I used to just take photos for fun and because it has been sort of therapeutic for me as well. I’m proud of how far I’ve come when comes to the variety of shooting styles that I’ve developed over time and also the amount of knowledge that I’ve been acquiring about the technical side of it as well. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am versatile when it comes to what and who I shoot. I have been known to swing from street photography, art photography, to architectural photography. There is also usually an element of design incorporated in most of my photos.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Besides music and food, creating makes me happy. I enjoy the feeling of being in the “flow state”, getting lost into creating with no judgment or fear. Mainly because it’s rejuvenating and where I feel like myself the most.
