Today we’d like to introduce you to Siah The Architect.
Hi Siah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey as Siah, The Architect has been about building my own sound and identity through music. As a singer, songwriter, and bassist, I bring together funk, soul, jazz, and R&B to express who I am.
Through creating songs, performing, and collaborating with other creatives, I’ve continued developing my artistry. Here in Houston, places like Wayne Street Live have been part of that journey, giving me space to perform and connect with the community.
Projects like No Permission and Funky Fingers reflect where I am today: trusting my vision and bringing it to life. The name “The Architect” represents that approach—building something meaningful, one song and one experience at a time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been balancing the creative side of music with everything it takes to promote it, plan shows, and build a brand. There have been times when the workload has left little room for myself.
I’m also learning to trust my vision without waiting for outside validation. That’s part of what No Permission means to me: giving myself permission to move forward. I’m still growing, but I’m becoming more confident in my sound and what I want to build.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m Siah, The Architect—a singer, songwriter, bassist, DJ, and performer based in Houston. I specialize in funk, blending soul, jazz, and R&B into music that makes people move and feel something. My work brings together expressive bass playing, personal style, and a strong connection with the audience.
What sets me apart is how I connect music with architecture. I approach songs and performances as things I’m building—from the foundation of the rhythm to the feeling people take home. My hands are my tools, and the bass is a big part of how I tell my story.
I’m most proud of developing my own creative identity and bringing projects like No Permission and Funky Fingers to life. They express my belief in trusting your vision and giving yourself room to create. Whether I’m performing my music or DJing, I want people to feel welcome, confident, and free to express themselves.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something people might find surprising is that, behind the funk and energy, my vision for Siah, The Architect is rooted in calm and connection. I want my music to make people dance, but I also want them to feel grounded, welcome, and comfortable being themselves. That’s what “The Architect” means to me—building a space where people feel they belong.
