Life & Work with Timothy Hood of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Hood.

Timothy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started when my wife suggested I try a semester of college at age 35, she said if you don’t like it quit. From there I met a instructor who gave the class a test and he said to just be honest. I was there for healthcare but the test showed the arts and not healthcare. At that moment I decided that I would follow my heart and I enrolled into Communications, Television, Radio and Film. I’ve been creating everything from music videos to animated films. For me its about breathing life into ideas.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth Road? absolutely not. I had to educate myself on CPU’s, ram, memory, motherboards and graphics cards. I originally wanted to go the MAC route but that CPU was not in my budget, but when you want something bad enough you find a way to get it. I went to Microcenter and the rest is history, they built me a monster CPU.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I really love storytelling and special effects. I have an imagination from another world when it comes to creating. If I think it then I find a way to make it happen. Every now and then I get jobs to shoot wedding or music video but I have my own scripts and ideas so I try to stay busy and I also produce my own music. What sets me apart is number one, I’m a Virgo and so for the most part I create alone, I build the sets in #d, use my greenscreens and film everything myself. I’ve given up on finding like minded individuals here in Houston. With me the rabbit hole goes deep because I wear all the hats.

What matters most to you?
What matters to me is following in the footsteps of Oscar Michaux and Norman Lear, rest in peace to both iconic individuals in Film and Cinema, is leaving a body of work. I may or may not make Hollywood stardom but what is important is leaving behind an archive of who I was through my music and film projects. Nothing wrong a photo album but with me it can be a whole day of non stop entertainment. My legacy is cemented having grandsons but my personal work tells the world who I was.
