Today we’d like to introduce you to Twurt Chamberlain.
Twurt, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, I was born and raised in Lexington, Mississippi. Although I’m from a small town, I spent a good portion of my youth traveling across America experiencing the landscape & culture of our nation which helped shape a lot of the influence you find in my music. I feel like I can relate to people from all walks of life and on any level. I’ve sang country songs to young Black children and I’ve recited some of my prolific rap verses to crowds of 80 year old white folks, but the energy is always dope. I call it frequency frequently. I’m not faking when I perform or trying to sound pretty or sing sexy. I sing from my soul and I enjoy making people happy and inspiring others to go hard. I didn’t grow up performing and I only took up the guitar a few years back but I’ve been on a journey developing T.W.U.R.T. Twurt is my childhood nickname. In my young adulthood I, through life experience, began to understand how I could create my art and market myself as a brand and just continue to grow – viewing life as a journey filled with mistakes, lessons, wins, and loses. I have some old tapes on SoundCloud Under Twurt ( Off The Ground ENT) and I feel like those little garage mixtapes are pure gold. I began to dabble in producing myself and DJ-ing parties and throwing my own events during my time in college at Mississippi Valley State University. I would consider this phase the start of my career, a real roller coaster ride to where we are today. I left college and worked every type of job from corporate desk jobs to laying epoxy floors in slaughter houses and operating heavy machinery though I’ve always found a sustainable refuge in bar tending. I started playing guitar around 2018. Around this time I began writing original music and hitting every open mic I could find. I played a lot on the sidewalks for strangers, and looking back now I know that was a vital part of building my stage presence today. There’s just something about playing for strangers on the sidewalk that removes any anxiety you have of performing for a crowd of people that actually pay to come see you. It’s about a decade later now and I still feel like I’m at the beginning of my journey – forever growing and forever remaining a student of life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
* Time was a challenge. Not in a bad way, I just mean you have to live the experience to adequately become you and that takes time. Don’t waste your time. Everyday is a journey towards you. I exist in a constant state of being Twurt. I have a regular career, but even in that world I’m Twurt Chamberlain.
* There’s the challenge of securing the funds to elevate my business to new heights. That doesn’t stop me from utilizing the resources I have available at this level.
*I hear ‘no’ a lot…my journey is not immune to the occasional empty promise and even being ghosted by potential business partners. That inspires me because I still complete my goals & I receive enough yeses to know I’m on the right road

Twurt Chamberlain is a spirited musician from Lexington, Mississippi. He is a soulful vocalist and guitarist whose music is a fusion of blues, rock, and hip-hop. Twurt’s revolutionary sound is matched by his uplifting and positive lyrics. He is an unconventional artist with Rockstar energy. Twurt has made it his mission to spread light and positivity through music from the Mississippi Delta to the rest of the world.
TWURT is both a stage-name and an acronym for “The World’s Most Unique Representation of Truth.” Whether you catch Twurt performing with a band or as a solo act, expect to be inspired by the truth and authenticity in his lyrics and performance style.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve been reading through Robert Greene’s catalog for the last three months because I have become obsessed with studying Human Nature. I’m so entrenched at this point that I’m down right convinced it’s the only subject I’ll ever need to study in life to properly navigate my experience.
In one of my more recent chapters the author breaks down the difference in a risk and a gamble. He elaborates that a gamble becomes a significant loss if you lose, whereas a risk poses little to no harm on the risk takers but does come with a lesson. I don ‘t gamble at all. I only go to the casino for the buffet. In regards to risk my unwavering belief in myself comes to mind. It’s insane to run the road that I run, but I’m not chasing fame – although I find that collision inevitable. If I were never to be famous, I’d still get the lesson of running this road that has so shaped my mind.
