Maria Monterrosa shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Maria , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are my grounding time before the phone starts buzzing and the world pulls me in every direction. I always begin with a moment of prayer and quiet reflection. It sets the tone for my day and reminds me of my purpose, even on the hectic ones. After that, I go through a few morning affirmations, just little reminders that I’m capable resilient and that today is full of possibility.
Then it’s time for the real bosses of the house…my fur babies Ziggy and Ryder. I wake them up and we head out to the backyard so they can stretch their legs and play. Finally, I brew my coffee, nothing fancy just strong and bold. That’s the official “let’s go” moment that kicks everything else into gear.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there! I’m a proud Houston resident and local real estate agent with Corcoran Genesis serving Houston and the surrounding areas. I’ve been in the industry for 7 years now and my heart is in helping first-time homebuyers, move-up buyers and sellers navigate one of the biggest milestones of their lives. I lead with education and patience because I believe people don’t just need a realtor, they need a guide someone who’s going to walk with them not push them through the process.
But real estate is only half of my story. I’m also the co-owner and manager of Super Cool AC & Heating based in Spring TX. We’re a family-run HVAC company that’s all about comfort, reliability and real service. Managing this business allows me to connect with homeowners on another level. Between both businesses I like to think of myself as a one-stop shop for all things home.
Right now I’m working on expanding both brands and creating more resources that educate and empower homeowners in our community. My journey’s been rooted in hard work, family and faith.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Growing up I believed that you had to have a degree to live a successful and prosperous life. That was the blueprint we were all handed right? Go to school get the degree get the job. But life taught me something different, success isn’t one-size-fits-all.
What I’ve learned is that all good things come to those who are willing to show up every day, put in the work, stay dedicated to their craft and most importantly lead with heart. You can build something meaningful and powerful when you operate from a place of purpose not just paper credentials. The world doesn’t need more titles, it needs more people who genuinely care and show up for others. That’s where real success lives.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t let other people’s judgment define your life path.
I became a teen mom at 15, and trust me the outside noise was loud. People were quick to say “That’s it for you” or “You’ve ruined your chances at a successful life.” It was like they had already written the ending to my story before I even had a chance to turn the page.
But here’s the thing, they were wrong. I was lucky enough to have a family that believed in me and supported me through high school and beyond. It really does take a village and I’ll always be grateful for mine.
To my younger self I’d say this: You are not a statistic. You are a fighter. And you’re going to turn this into your strength. Your journey might look different, and that’s the beautiful part. Different doesn’t mean defeated.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. What you see is what you get, no filters no façade. I show up the same way online as I do in real life. If you know me personally you’d say I’m the exact same person on and off the ‘gram.
I’ve got a big sense of humor and patience the size of an elephant which comes in handy in both real estate and HVAC…trust me! But above all I lead with compassion. I truly care about the people I serve and I think that’s what makes all the difference. I don’t do performative professionalism just the real me every time.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d start spending more time with the ones I love immediately. I’d drop the busy work, the distractions, the overthinking, and just focus on being present. I’d want to create more memories with my family and my people so they remember me for who I was not just what I did.
Because at the end of the day, time is the one thing we can’t buy back. It’s priceless. And the older I get the more I realize it’s not about just the hustle it’s about the moments, real quiet beautiful moments, with the ones who matter most. I’d choose more intentionally who I spend my energy with, take more chances, stop doubting myself, and lead with honesty and heart in life and in business. Because at the end of the day, that’s the legacy I want to leave behind: one my family would be proud of.
