Meet Alejandra Cantú of Travessence Travel Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Cantú.

Hi Alejandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My first introduction to the travel industry came while I was still in high school, when I worked part-time at a family-owned travel agency. I was eager to learn and gain experience, and that opportunity gave me an early look at the work that goes into planning a trip.

I later studied marketing, and my professional path eventually took me into logistics and operations, where I spent most of my career. Those years taught me how to coordinate details, solve problems, and take care of clients—skills that I now bring to travel planning.

Throughout that time, my interest in travel never went away. I’ve always enjoyed discovering different places, cultures, and traditions, and I found that I enjoyed the planning itself, especially when organizing vacations for my own family. As a mother of two boys, I know how valuable time together is and how much those shared experiences can mean.

My entrepreneurial curiosity eventually led me to explore returning to the travel industry. Little by little, that became Travessence Travel Studio. I wanted to combine my professional experience with something I enjoyed: helping people plan trips without having to manage all the research, decisions, and details themselves.

Today, I’m continuing to grow Travessence Travel Studio here in Katy, Texas, helping families, couples, and groups plan trips around their interests, priorities, and budgets. Personal attention is at the heart of how I work: I want my clients to feel heard, understand their options, and feel comfortable asking questions. Building this business has also allowed me to pursue my professional goals while being present for my children. It brings together my experience, my love of travel, and my desire to create something of my own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Although I had early experience in tourism and a strong background in logistics and operations, returning to the travel industry and building my own business has involved a lot of learning. I’ve had to work on both sides of the business: planning trips and taking care of clients, while also developing my brand and getting the word out about Travessence Travel Studio.

One of the challenges has been learning to be patient with the process. Building relationships and earning people’s trust takes time, and not every inquiry turns into a booking. There is a lot of research and preparation behind each proposal, so I’ve had to learn to stay consistent even when the results aren’t immediate.

Another challenge has been balancing the demands of growing a business with being present for my two boys. Having flexibility is something I value, but it also requires organization and decisions about where to put my time and energy.

My experience in logistics has helped me approach challenges with a practical mindset: paying attention to the details, finding solutions, and adapting when needed. Building Travessence Travel Studio has taught me patience and persistence, and each step has strenghthened my confidence in the business I´m creating.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Travessence Travel Studio?
Travessence Travel Studio is a boutique travel agency based in Katy, Texas. I help families, couples, and groups plan trips that reflect their interests, priorities, and budgets. My services include planning and booking hotels and resorts, vacation packages, cruises, flights, and theme park tickets, depending on what each trip requires.

My focus is on personalized vacations, including all-inclusive getaways in Mexico and the Caribbean, family trips to destinations such as Disney and Universal, European vacations, and travel within the United States. I also help coordinate group trips, where different departure cities, preferences, and budgets can make planning more complicated.

What sets Travessence Travel Studio apart is the personal attention behind the planning. I start by listening: what does the traveler want to experience, who are they traveling with, and what matters most to them? From there, I research options, explain the differences, and help them make informed decisions. A beautiful hotel alone doesn’t tell you whether it’s the right fit for a particular family or group, so I pay attention to the details that can shape their experience.

My background in logistics and operations also influences how I work. I’m comfortable coordinating multiple pieces, comparing options, and thinking through how everything fits together. I want clients to understand what they’re booking, what’s included, and any additional costs they need to consider.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of building Travessence Travel Studio around care, clarity, and a personal connection. I work with clients in English and Spanish, and I want people to feel comfortable asking questions and sharing what they need. Above all, I want readers to know that they can come to me even if they haven’t decided on a destination yet. Helping them explore their options and turn an idea into a thoughtfully planned trip is part of what I do.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories are of traveling with my family. I remember the excitement of making plans together and looking forward to what we would discover. Those trips gave us time to connect sparked my curiosity about different places and cultures, and created memories that I still carry with me today.

Now, as a mother, I value the opportunity to create those kinds of memories with my own children. I hope the places we visit and the experiences we share will inspire their curiosity and become a meaningful part of their own stories.
