Meet Alexandria Gray of XANDi in Pearland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Gray.

Alexandria, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been singing since I was four years old. I started off in plays as a toddler like “The Wizard of Oz” and eventually got serious about performing in 8th grade when I was 13. I started going to the studio building my discography on SoundCloud and I now have 20,000+ listens in total. After high school, I started undergrad at Howard University (which I am currently still enrolled) and continued my passion for music.

I dropped my first Ep “Feels Like Nirvana” February of 2019 on all platforms. My 2nd Ep “Catharsis” just dropped August 30th 2019. I am driven, determined, but most of all passionate about music & performing and I’m not going to stop until I make it to the top!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest struggle is probably my patience. I’ve been involved with music my whole life & have been recording since 13 so it feels Like I’ve been in this game forever. But my Unc- HTown legend Lil Keke had to remind me that I’m still very young & fresh in the game! After that my focus was reset & I looked at the bigger picture.. but it ‘s still hard having patience at times.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am an artist/singer/songwriter. I have written every song I’ve ever recorded. I also as well. I’m most proud of my ability to be all of the above and STILL be a student. I am also Miss Residence Life at Howard University so it’s not easy juggling class, homework, and my artistry but I make it work! What sets me apart is that yeah- the money that comes from this is great but I’m more focused on putting out music that people enjoy. Not only enjoy but it was them feel good about life, themselves, and others. Also music that is relatable in every way- not just the lyrics. The Adlibs, the beat, harmonies….it’s the details that really matter.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories as a child was my auntie Jodie picking me up and taking me to her house where all my cousins were. I LOVE my family and I had such a great time playing with my cousins growing up. We had some FUN!!
