Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to “Houston” when I attended THE Prairie View A&M University for my undergraduate studies. At PVAMU, I was a member of the Lady Panther Volleyball Team. PALS (Panther Advisor Leaders), SGA (Student Government Association) and a number of other organizations. I graduated with my business marketing degree in 2012. After which I have worked for CultureMap Houston, Houstonia Magazine, and most recently KHOU 11 (CBS TV) While in this role, I managed community partnerships and public relations. I have worked with the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, The City of Houston, Houston Independent School District, The Super Bowl, and many others. I know live in Dallas and work for Cinemark World Headquarters. I manage grand opening marketing and public relations and all in-theatre marketing aspects.
I forgot, I also STILL teach at the University of Houston online (social media marketing).
Has it been a smooth road?
I wish! Well, no I don’t wish it has been a smooth road. Struggle builds character. After going through Hurricane Harvey with my co-workers and “Houston family”. I feel like there is nothing we can’t do! #BringiTOn
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Aside from teaching at the University of Houston and working for Cinemark World Headquarters, I just launched my e-commerce business “Sparkle and Vibes” www.SparkleAndVibes.com. I hand select earrings, fabulous clutches, sunnies, hair clips, and accessories for the woman that wants to #Sparkle! I would always get asked where I get my jewelry from and that they loved it, so I was like heck I need to sale it. 🙂
What makes me proud is how confident and vibrant women tell me that they feel in the pieces, like they can take over the world!
I love what I am doing so much, it makes me happy. I hope that women can see that in the packaging, selection, and handwritten notes that I send.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I would recommend them getting out there and networking! Houston has A LOT of opportunities for networking, you just have to get out there and put in the work. I am just starting out, so I will take as much advise as I can get as well.
