Meet Armir Harris of GOGO Charters Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Armir Harris.

Amir, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in Albania and raised by a single mom. When I was seven years old, the civil war in that country became so dangerous, we immigrated to the U.S. for a better life. The only stateside family we had was my uncle, who owns a bus company in North Carolina. Mom worked several jobs to keep us afloat, while my sister and I acclimated to life in America.

As soon as I was old enough, I lived and worked in every region of the U.S. I made life-long friends and learned a lot about myself; namely, that I’m a builder. I have to be creating new things and exploring opportunities. That’s like breathing to me.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being a business owner is always hard. It challenges your tenacity, your critical thinking, your ethics, everything. I helped my uncle run his transportation business for a while; then I knew it was time to break out on my own.

I knew immediately that technology would be my competitive edge. The motor coach business – still to this day – holds an antiquated view of web, mobile & big data.

Whereas to me, those are exactly the things that should be embraced to create a great customer experience.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about GOGO Charters Houston – what should we know?
When a person has been put in charge of a company outing, wedding, family reunion or whatever; they’re managing a lot. Ground transportation (i.e. charter buses, shuttle buses) shouldn’t be complicated.

At GOGO Charters, we make that simple for them. We’re easy to find online. We’re open 24/7. Our trained reservation agents have exclusive access to vehicle availability data all over the world.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our goal is to help get your people from one place to another. That’s easy to understand, but deeply complex once you dig into the logistics, technology… and even psychology of it. My employees and I are obsessed with that process.
