Today we’d like to introduce you to Aylon Nadine Bermudez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Aylon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I go by Nadine and for about three years, I have worked as a professional model, brand ambassador, and content creator. I was born in Missoula, Montana and currently reside in Houston, Texas. I’ve had a passion for modeling since I was a child and I love to portray that passion in my photographs.
The majority of my images include swimwear, boudoir, glamorous, and lifestyle. My photos can be found in publications such as Succoso Magazine, B.A.D.D. Urban Dolls Magazine, 504 Dymes Stars & Stripes Edition, A New Me Magazine “Heavy Hitters” Edition, 86Blvd, Signet Magazine, Skybox Magazine, as well as a few publications by Model Modele and more. I’ve been featured in over 13 publications, five cover publications, and was “Woman Of The Year 2019” with The Epitome Magazine. I’ve had the opportunity to do a photoshoot which involved me getting body paint done by well-known body painter Fernello who has recently been featured on VH1’s “Skin Wars” I’ve been featured in music videos for Chris Audio & The Audio Kings and their song “Insta Drippin,” “GOD” by Yung Az, as well as a video by the famous T-Wayne called “Super Freaky.” Some other projects include being featured for the second time on a Spotify/iTunes/IheartRadio podcast called “Keep Grinding-Mind For Success,” where I was interviewed by Shemaiah Reed regarding the topic of entrepreneurship and the non-stop grind to achieve our dreams.
For roughly two years I also was the creator of a group of aspiring models known as “Nadine’s Bombshells” (A mentoring program I’ve developed to help women, gain confidence, build a portfolio, and learn to a network) my organization primarily focuses on improving self-confidence and promoting entrepreneurs to fearlessly follow their dreams. The women I mentored all managed to get published in numerous magazines, one including Playboy Magazine.
With all the creativity, my mind seems to be bombarded with I still desired more and decided to now dabble behind the camera. I began photography about six months ago and have been blessed to have my work published in multiple magazines thus far. With modeling taking a backseat to photography, I do consider myself “semi-retired” from modeling. I’ve found such a passion with the images that I capture now and get an excitement learning new lighting and editing techniques.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. As a wife and a mother of two, it was very difficult to juggle it all. In the beginning, I was working a regular 8-5 as a certified medical assistant and coming home to a whole family with their needs that needed to be met as well. It was very easy to want to give up but I was determined and honestly was happy going to photoshoots and creating new images, almost like therapy from everyday life.
Please tell us about “The Native Bombshell”.
I currently run my own photography business and I am in the midst of opening up an online boutique. I specialize in all types of photography, ranging from newborn photos to shooting potential models for a publication. My online boutique is aiming towards women’s fashion as of now but I’d love to eventually venture into men and children’s fashion as well.
I feel I stand out first off because I am a female in a predominantly male-based business when it comes to shooting models. The fact of me being an experienced model has also allowed my client base (majority females) to feel more comfortable working with me and receive constructive instructions ensuring they get the best images possible.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have plenty of mentors, most of which are photographers I’ve worked with in the past that have been so open with giving me advice, etc. in the industry. My cheerleaders would definitely be some of the aspiring models I’ve mentored in the past and have since remained friends.
Majority of my support would have to be my family. I think my children give me a special drive, knowing they are watching me chase my dreams, emphasizing the importance of being happy in all that you do.
