Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Ackerman-Ornelas.
Beth is an accomplished learning professional. She spent more than 20 years in the Corporate world working on supporting the employees of her companies. As a Director Of Education, she focused on building the people who built the business. She successfully earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Education from Texas State University and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development from the University of Houston.
After 20 plus years (now I feel old), Beth felt driven to do more and dream of an environment where FUN would be at the forefront rather than the financials. Creative Learning Society was built to create an outlet for not just companies but for individuals to realize that not everything in life should be taken too seriously. Beth wants to help people and organizations learn about the importance and the positive impact of creating balance and forming strong relationships can have on their daily lives and their bottom lines.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Any road worth exploring is never smooth or easy. The first and most significant challenge I faced was believing enough in myself and my vision to take the first step. I have always felt like an odd-shaped puzzle piece, one that never quite fit in. But now, I believe it is my quirky and unique qualities that help me excel. I learned early on, I needed to believe in myself before I could expect others to get behind me. I took a deep breath and a tenacious attitude and I set out on a mission. I spoke to anyone who would listed, used my past experience to assist me in making sales calls and simply hit the ground running. I never thought what if it doesn’t work, I just knew it had to work, so I marched forward and never looked back!
Please tell us about Creative Learning Society.
We are a Team Building and Social Learning Company. We believe in creating fun and engaging events that bring people together in the spirit of fun, collaboration and Learning.
We strive to encourage people to take a serious look at the power of Play and the positive influence it has on their lives.
We use Play to help our clients become focused and engaged, aware of themselves and their surroundings and to help them recognize the value of working with others to accomplish a goal.
Some of our programs are designed just for team appreciation, others are built strategically to assist in the development of a team or the troubleshooting of team conflict. We can custom design most programs to fit any size of team and most budgets.
I absolutely love seeing different people come alive at my events. I am so proud that what I do brings a smile to my client’s faces and sometimes even when it pushes them to the end Fe if their comfort zone, they tell me thank you for helping them step over that line. I just love making people happy and teaching them something.
What sets me apart? I care! I actually truly care about making a difference in people’s lives. My programs will be different from any other boring team building session you have ever attended because they are built on Play! There is always a purpose and a goals.
One of our signature programs is the Murder Mystery. Our interactive events put you right into the action of a classic Murder Mystery. Attendees will take on either the role of a character or the role of a detective and bring a mystery to life. The event wouldn’t be complete without costumes and props, all of which we are happy to provide. It’s a FUN event and Bad Acting is highly encouraged!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Sunday evenings at home with my family watching Murder She Wrote and The Golden Girls.
